We--xo--Love--xo--Rob...

A couple of notes from some of you...

Dear Patsy,
I am so glad your doing a bit better. It's been a really hard year for
me too. I lost my adopted daughter on her birthday in Jan 2003, my aunt,
then Rob. He was a wonderful person, I loved his e-mails and jokes he
sent to me. You would never know he had a disability. I miss his news
letters but I really miss you sweetie. I feel like we have been friends
for ever and that's how Rob made me feel. It will get better over time,
it just seems like everything is piled on top of you is all. Keep busy
and spring will get there and maybe the snow will let up soon. We have
all our spring flowers in bloom, and the leaves are coming on the trees.
This is my very favorite time of the year. Everything looks bright and
smells so good. Your in my thoughts everyday sweetie and I vote for all
your sites everyday. If I knew what Kay's were I would vote for her too.
She is doing a wonderful job for you. Have a wonderful day and remember
we all love you and miss you very much, and won't go anywhere lol.
Lots of Love,
Roxanne J

Hi Patsy
thanks so much for continuing Rob's news letter... It is so interesting
to read about your life in Nederlands and in Canada. I live in Bessemer,
Alabama ..I always enjoyed Rob's message, and was so sorry about his
death..When he told us about his wheelchair problems I could visualize
what it was like..and I am so glad you can continue with his
(life)stories.

Dear Patsy    Hi how are you doing? I have thought about you so much and
have wanted to write but thought that I would wait until things slowed
down for you but as it looks like that is not going to happen, thought
that today is a good day. First of all I was so excited to see Rob's
news letter but when I read your letters about him I still cry so I know
how hard writing them must be, so thank you for doing that for us. We
still miss him a great deal also. I got both of Rob's letters and yours
and they are the one I read first every day. My Arnie is getting worse,
we had an appt. at the Mayo Clinic but had to cancel. Rob knew we were
trying for this. I did not realize that Rob was 36 days older than me. I
knew our birthday's were close, but today saw he was born in 50. Well
Patsy my friend I better let you go for now. Just wanted to let you know
that we think about you and pray for you every day, an again thank you.
When you are up to it please let me hear from you. We feel like we are
'cut off' from our friend. We understand but miss you any way. Our love
and prayers are with you every day. Love Elaine and Arnie

Dear Patsy, You are doing a great job with continuing Rob's Story. You
are writing it as he would want you to, and for all of us, who loved
him, want to know. When our tine on this earth is over, all we
really leave behind are memories, and as long as we hold dear and share
these memories, our loved one lives on. I realize how hard it must be
for you, but we patiently await the next part of Rob's Life.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Joanne
*
Dear Patsy,
I just wanted to let you know that you are still in my prayers. I have
been really missing Rob's newsletters. Mainly his live and let live. I
go back and read the ones I have for moral support. Right now I am
having a time with my leg. I am trying to get it fixed but I keep
hitting these huge brick walls. I need to have a "Free tissue flap"
done and no one in my area does it. They all send there patients to
Birmingham. That is the biggest city in the State. Best Hospital and
all. But my insurance won't cover all them big city dr. and hospitals.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and
missing Rob also. I know he is in a better place and one day we will
all get that lucky. You really amaze me. I am so in awe of your
strength. I know God is the one who gave it to you. I still miss my
Dad so much that I still cry at night wanting to just give him a hug and
let him know I love him. It has been 4 long years now. Please keep me
on your prayer list. I am requesting prayer in finding a doctor that
will do this procedure that is covered by my insurance and the strength
to continue on. Some days I just feel like giving up. It is so hard.
Well, I will go. Lots of love to you and Kay.

Love In Christ,
Betty G
Attalla, AL

PS Keep your chin up because Rob is in Heaven smiling down on you. That
way your eyes can meet.
Love in Christ,
Betty

~~~~Thank you so very much for all the lovely comments, for your love
for Rob; & for your love & support for me. God bless each one of you.
Love always, Patsy
As promised I will add a short note here to carry on where Rob left off.
He would want that I think. It isn't easy to do, but, I'll try.
My goal here is not to degrade Bett, his late wife, just to offer the
truth as Rob was telling it & would tell it, & to show how he became
more disabled over time...
Love, Patsy
Rob's own story 63
Rob's caretaking of his late wife, Bett, was proving too much for his
body. Always that infection (osteomylitis) was threatening his life by
acting up in his hip. He needed to be hospitalyzed, but, Bett would not
hear of it. He was in need of rest & very strong doses of Anti-biotics
to slow down the infection. The hip was laying wide open with blood &
infection everywhere. It was gone too far to care for it himself.
And the pain...ohhhhh, the pain.......!
Bett fought the Doctors, AND Rob, as she wanted her own needs taken care
of, rather than being put into a facility of some kind, just while Rob
was in hospital for his own care.
Bett won that fight too. Doctors put him on strong medications & ordered
him in a wheelchair fulltime, for any chance of that infection slowing
down enough to save his life.
Till next time...
Patsy for our beloved Rob
People’s needs are as individual as people themselves. There are basic
needs such as food, warmth and shelter that we all share as human
beings. Maybe you donate money or time to a charity that helps provide
just those things (and if you are not currently doing so, you might want
to ask around for a worthy organization that provides basic needs for
the less fortunate).
But there are other needs - often invisible needs - found in the people
around you. It’s almost certain that the people you meet and interact
with carry some amount of stress, discomfort, illness, or worry. You
can help those around you by being sensitive to these unspoken needs and
being an open ear, a warm hug, and bright smile for those who need it
most.
"How are you?" is sort of a routine question these days. Get specific.
If you know about a particular worry someone has, ask about it if it’s
appropriate. Or ask what the person did yesterday; this invites a more
specific response and may clue you in to a particular need in that
person’s life.
Asking questions doesn’t mean much if you don’t listen to the response.
Devote your full attention to the person speaking to you. Make eye
contact. In your mind, make mental connections with the person’s
difficult situation and relate it to something similar in your own life.
What did you need most from others at that time?
Pray. Not only should you pray for the needs of others, but if you know
you could be a little more sensitive - and most of us could be - go
ahead and ask God to help you in this area. You’re here to do His will,
after all, and helping those around you is always on His agenda for your
life.
TriVita’s Sublingual B-12, B-6 & Folic Acid" contains the perfect
mixture of vitamins needed to boost your mood and energize your day. As
you listen to others and become more sensitive to their needs, see if
any of their needs include words like energy, or better mood. If you’ve
been helped by TriVita’s patented B-12 tablets, why not pass it along to
someone else as a Gift of Health?
Happiness Now
We seem to face life by holding on to a perfect dream of the future,
rather than by seeing the beauty in the current moment.   Under this
distorted mind set, happiness is never truly in our grasp, but right
around the corner, and depending on certain people, places or things.
We tend to view ourselves as works in progress, focusing on the
imperfect rather than on what is already good about our total being. We
are often quick to beat ourselves up, instead of treating ourselves as
kindly as we would treat a total stranger.
Just as God first loved us before we loved Him, before we can reach out
to others, we must first learn to cherish ourselves.
Treating yourself lovingly is not an act of conceit or selfishness, but
it is an act that teaches us how to be more effective Christians. Again,
how can we offer wisdom and understanding to others, if we do not
practice it ourselves? How can we preach forgiveness, mercy and love, if
we are not willing to apply it to our own daily walk?
Our Heavenly Father did not send His Son, Jesus Christ, to condemn us
for our imperfections, but to offer us salvation by showing us a better
way.
Now is the time to stop kicking yourself in the teeth by letting the
mistakes of the past weight heavy upon your heart, and instead, to allow
His peace and mercy to wash over us in much the same way the ocean
waters cleanse the distant shore.
Happiness is not around the corner, because it is right here before us,
if only we would open our eyes to the beauty which already exists in
every day, hour and moment of our life. If you need a helping hand to
see this, then just call on God today.
