I bought a nice ole Guzzi last week!!!
After owning an old Loop frame for 30 years, then selling it; i just
couldn't do without for long. I've owned many of the other Moto Guzzi
models at one time or another, but the loop frames are near and dear.
Found a Black w/white accents '74 850 LAPD California Eldorado with
42,000 on the odometer needing a new home.
Runs extremly well, but needs a new clutch. Argh- I hate the clutches.
The clutch is super grabby from start, after that it isn't noticable. I
have tried the clutch wash with mineral spirits - Twice. It totally
fixes the grabby clutch action-for about 100 miles. After 100 miles the
clutch gets sticky/grabby very quickly and by 200 miles it is as bad as
ever.
Can You Do the Herky Jerk dance with your Guzzi?
After 1st gear it shifts smooth as silk, and runs out just fantastic. I
have to replace some brake lines, rubber stuff, and just clean it up and
be good to go (and do the clutch).
I don't see any alternative other than "New Clutch".
Anyhow - - I'm Back with my favorite Guzzi - Hung a new Karma Bell and
named it "Ole #7"
See Ya,
Roy
