RFI: Monarchs: Caterpillar to Chrysalis?

How long does it take for a Monarch caterpillar, once it hangs in the J
position, to form the chrysalis? Two of the five cats I found in my yard
had dropped into the J position before I got home last evening at 6:30,
yet as of 10:00 this evening they have not formed the chrysalis. On
average, how long does the process take? Thanks.
