Hey all,
Sorry..no Italian motorcycle hill climbing lately. I think we all wised up
before something bad happened. We pushed it to the edge tho....The
Gilera(the bike that was used in the about shenanigans is now in the dining
room. Waiting for love. I put it there for safe keeping while on vacation)
I was out from 7/11-7/26 on the newly finished shovelhead. Trip was good,
how can it not be....except for traffic.....I do usually head AWAY from
people on vacations...which is why I like motorcycles and not
carpooling..but I have a friend in Brooklyn that I wanted to see. Another in
Williamsburg, VA and while down and out that way I wanted to hit DC. All new
places for me. AND A bunch of traffic...I WONT BE GOING TO THE EAST COAST
again....at least not on a 75 HD.....
I left Detroit on 7/11 about 7pm. Finally ended up in Brooklyn about 3 days
later...I had a couple mechanical problems in Penn. Busted oil line was the
main one. Thankfully there was a napa right down the street. Took 6 almost
all the way across. Hit a poor bird, fired a battery cover and found some
camp areas that had access roads that would make a GS hesitate.
Spent a few days in NY, then off to DC. A crowded Saturday morning at the
holocaust & Smithsonian and out. From DC I went to Williamsburg, where I
hung out and rode with a pal I have known since 2nd grade...(no ! that
wasn't last year!)
From there to Asheville, NC via 58 to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The parkway
was nice as it was during the week and there was almost no traffic, In
Asheville (15 mile N) I stayed in a beautiful youth hostel in the forest.
Rivers, gardens, forest....nice, very peaceful. From Asheville I left for
VMD to meet up with the pals. I went south west a bit first, hit Deals Gaps
(first time for that) Killjoy got my pic.....U can look it up on Killjoys
site.
July 23rd, pg. 84----gray and blk HD. Just glad I wasn't "that guy" that
went over the yellow while he snapped the pic....
After deals gap, I just sort on made my up to OH via Kentucky ...58 North
was nice ... At Midohio I was disappointed that AMA & AHRMA were fighting,
wasn't the same with the constant buzz of the bikes......Still had a good
time as you can put the pals in a Siberian prison and we would still find
some way to have a good time...
Oh there more.....A movie called "Annabel and Bear" just got done filming at
my house. That was crazy. About a "biker" that is reunited with his 2 yr old
daughter...Yup Im in it too as an extra, if it don't get cut...and yes the
bike is there too.. the shovel.
Waiting for things to die down as the guzzi runs like crap and needs some
love.
Still have a buddies 74 eldo engine that was supposed to be done in the
spring.
Just too much...

What is happening out there in MotVinMoto land?
I heard battle of the Brits is moving? Matt did you tell me that at
VMD? Todd has the mightly Royal Enfield Interceptor made it back to
pavement yet? Craig what Ducti bevel are you restoring now? Kevin what
under powered Italian antique have you been riding in the local park?
Darrell I am again making some progress on the Gemini. Tank is getting
a second treatrment of synth-phosphate. Carb is scattered in a pie tin
after a short dunk in the good stuff waiting to be assembled. I am
looking forward to exploring that single plate clutch next.
What did everyone think about the MetroTimes cafe racer article? anyone
