PEACEMAKERS WALK ACROSS U.S.
WITH FLAME FROM HIROSHIMA BOMBING
CALLING FOR END TO "STAR WARS" PLANS
An international group of peace advocates began a cross-country walk
Jan. 15, 2002 at the grave of Native American Chief Seattle in
Washington State. The walk conclude in May with vigils at the site of
the World Trade Towers in New York City and in Washington, DC.
The marchers are carrying a flame that was kept alive from the embers of
the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, on Aug. 6, 1945.

In March, the group is walking from Huntsville, AL to Oak Ridge, TN,
site of the "Y-12 National Security Complex" where nuclear weapons are
