Call for Papers
Theme: Generalization of the Unconscious
MEETING DESCRIPTION:
The International Conference on Applied Linguistics will take place
between April 1st - 2nd, 2006, in Chiayi County, Taiwan, hosted by the
Department of Foreign Languages, National Chiayi University.
This conference gives scholars of applied linguistics to meet and
exchange the results of their research activities, thus contributing to
the understanding and discussion of the current research trends in
applied linguistics in Taiwan and the other parts of the world.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Janet Holmes (Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand)
Five other speakers are being contacted and invited.
TOPICS OF INTEREST:
We invite original, not presented/published works including, but not
limited to, the following fields:
Language and Culture: sociolinguistics, language policy and planning,
language and gender, language identity, etc.
Language and Cognition: psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, language
and mind, language and brain, language development, language
acquisition, etc.
Language and Teaching: teaching methodology, curriculum and syllabus
design, class activity design, Teaching English as a Second/Foreign
Language, Teaching Mandarin as a Second/Foreign Language, etc.
Computational Linguistics: creation of (annotated) corpora, tree bank,
POS tagging, syntactic or semantic parsing, natural language
understanding, knowledge representation, implementation of linguistic
models, etc.
General Linguistics: (articulatory, acoustic, perceptual) phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, interfaces of the fields
above, etc.
ABSTRACT
We invite abstracts of 20-minute talks, plus 10-minute discussion.
Electronic submission is encouraged and preferred. Abstracts should be
single-spaced and one-page long, including references and examples, in
12 Pt Times New Roman font, with all margins at 2.5 cm. Electronic
versions must be anonymous. Please email your abstract in .pdf or . ps
format (.doc format is acceptable but we cannot be responsible for the
correct appearance of all fonts/characters) as an attachment to
dfl_con2004{at}mail{dot}ncyu{doc}edu{dot}tw and specify the name(s),
affiliation(s) and email(s) of the author(s) in the email body.
If email is impossible, please send five hard copies of your abstracts
(one with the name(s), affiliation(s) and email(s) of the author(s), and
the other four anonymous) to: Department of Foreign Languages, National
Chiayi University, 85, Wenlong, Minghsiung, Chiayi County, TAIWAN, 621.
IMPORTANT DATES
