ARTICLE OF THE MONTH:
TONY AND HIS SOCKS

My friend, Tony, always preferred blonds. His spent as much time as possible
in Estoril, a tourist resort, near Lisbon. One day, he met the woman of his
dreams; she was a slim, elegant, young Scandinavian with long blond hair, of
course. They dated for a few days, then, they realized it was time for the
real big event to happen. They went to his bedroom, and started to take their
clothes off. Somehow, she undressed faster than Tony, so he did not have time
to take off his socks.
They were about to make desperate love, when she suddenly stopped, stared at
him and said," What, you are make love with your socks on?"
And that was the end of their relationship:Tony was not able to perform.From
that time,he hated her and, of course, he hated socks for the rest of his
life.
How does "love" turn into "hate" because of a pair of socks?
In ancient Israel, one of king David's wives, Michal, was deeply in love
with him. One day, she happened to watch "King David leaping and dancing before
the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him."( 2 Samuel 6:16). She was so
disgusted that from that moment on, she despised him.
How does "love" turn into "hate" because of a dance?
There was another king very much involved with David, as a matter of fact
they were like father and son; his name was Saul. As time went by, Saul went
insane and wanted to kill everybody, including David. They became rivals, and
had their armies ready to fight each other several times. One day, David and
his soldiers, were hiding deep in a cave, when Saul,
unaware that they were in the cave, went inside to "relieve himself," ( 1
Samuel 24:3). David, somehow, managed to cut a piece of Saul's robe, instead of
his head. Then, he went after Saul when he left the cave. When the two men
faced each other, David showed Saul what he had cut, and Saul, very calmly
asked David "Is that really you, my son David?" ( 1 Samuel 24:18.
David spared Saul, and vice-versa; their armies did not fight at all.
This time, anger turned into love, again.
Why peace? They attributed it all to the Lord. In those days, people were
more in tune with their Higher Self than today. Indeed, Tony's socks, David's
dance, and a piece of Saul's robe are "weapons" that God sends us to see how
we handle our situations while on earth. Do we choose peace or war?
