BAR Season Ends With Masters State TT

The PA State Championship road events wrap up on Saturday with the Pine Gro=
ve Furnace TT (http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=3D8496). =
This race has served as the master=E2=80=99s state TT for many years and th=
e folks at South Mountain Velo do a great job year in and year out. After m=
edals and double BAR points (scored today) were awarded at the Yuasa Right =
from the Start Criterium (Elite Championship) last Sunday the women, men=E2=
=80=99s 3-4, and juniors 10-12 BAR competitions have concluded for 2009. Wh=
ile the tide will turn toward a focus on cyclo cross the TT and G20 Summit =

9329) in WPA highlight the staying power of a road season that runs from Ma=

5+ [45-49] & [50-54], 55+ [55-59] & [60-64], 65+ [65-69] & [70+]) will be c=
ombined and points will be scored accordingly. If you have any questions pl=
ease drop me a line. Thanks.

PA Cross Series

The sport of cyclo cross has grown tremendously the last decade plus. I sta=
rted racing cross in the last 90=E2=80=99s on a road bike with standard bra=
kes that got so mucked up with mud that I had to stop almost every lap and =
clean the brakes. In fact I remember having trouble finding a bike shop tha=
t carried cross tires. Many of the 35+ events I raced in had no more than 5=
to 7 riders so I was guaranteed a good placing with less than desired cros=
s skills. When I went to Baltimore for cross nationals in 2001 I finished 6=
4th in the 40-44 event and the B race has 142 starters. My skills aside PA =
Cross Coordinator Mike Hebe has been the catalyst of the resurrection of th=
e PA Cross Series and it continues to grow. The schedule of the PA Cross Se=
ries is detailed below. If you like cross please support this series by rac=
ing or volunteering:

Final Words=20

The weather is cooling off but the racing remains hot. There is little down=
time for riders who race on the road/track from March to September then tr=
ansition to cross which runs through December. When you have a moment, thin=
k about what you love about racing. Think about what you would change if yo=
u had the opportunity. As I have said many times the PCA is only as strong =
as its membership and we (PCA) are blessed with some a tremendously dedicat=
ed membership base. If you have some ideas on how to enhance your racing ex=
perience please let me know. Before you know it you=E2=80=99ll be racing fo=
r 2010 road and track BAR points.=20

Ride safe this weekend and always!
