2009 PA BAR Season Final Results
The Pine Grove Furnace TT marked the end of the 2009 PA BAR series and the =
standings have been updated with the results from the event that served as =
the masters state TT. I, along with the PCA board, would like to thank all =
riders who participated in the PA BAR this year. I have received a lot of p=
ositive comments on the 2009 series and we (PCA) are committed to providing=
the membership with top quality races on a variety of venues to offer the =
best possible racing experience for all levels. In 2010 the PCA board will =
continue to focus on managing the PA BAR with consistency which will includ=
e one BAR race only per race day, BAR points based on GC for true stage rac=
es, and a new set of guidelines for time trials. Thanks again to the PCA me=
mbership and their families and friends who supported them during the seaso=
n long competition.
PCA Awards Banquet
The 2009 PCA Awards Banquet will take place on Sunday October 11th from 5 P=
M to 9 PM at the Victory Brewing Company (http://www.victorybeer.com/) in D=
owningtown. The banquet cost will be approximately $5 per person. There are=
two payment options, pay at the door (bring plenty of $5 bills for change)=
or use the following BikeReg site http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.a=
sp?eventid=3D9344. Please RSVP to me if you can join us for this gala as I=
would like to have a head count available for the venue by October 1st if =
possible. If you utilize the BikeReg option your acknowledgment email will =
serve as the RSVP. The banquet is a celebration for all riders, their frien=
ds and families and there will be awards for the top 10 in each road catego=
ry, the top 3 for the track, and awards for the 2008 PA Cross Series champi=
ons. I am hoping to see you there for what should great fun for all.

Time Trial Issues
Over the past few years there have been issues in some of the state TT even=
ts regarding improper riding. To be frank it disgusts me that I have to bro=
ach this topic. USAC rules and regulations are to be followed by all riders=
regardless. Any violations of said rules take away from the efforts of the=
majority of riders who acknowledge and follow those policies. Ellen Dorsey=
has made some recommendations that will provide resources and methods for =
enhancing the ability of officials to ensure the integrity of a TT. While t=
hese recommendations are directed toward state TT=E2=80=99s they can be app=
lied to ant time trial. These new guidelines will be communicated to race p=
romoters in the near future. The time trial is a key component to road raci=
ng and I for one want them to remain an integral part of the PA BAR and sta=
te championships.

Final Words=20
Cross season is upon us as you can see by the list of races in October. I h=
ad the privilege of racing this past weekend at the Whirly Bird cross race =
sponsored by Guys Racing. The number of riders in cross events continues to=
rise and that is great for the sport. The PA Cross and MABRA series are th=
e focus of many racers in the mid atlantic area and events such as Hillbill=
y Hustle and Raccoon cross offer great racing for local area riders. Wherev=
er you line up for a cross race you are guaranteed a challenging course and=
some stiff competition. Enjoy!
