The Weekly PCA Email is Back!
It has been several weeks since I sent out an email to the PCA membership. =
A hectic few weeks at work and 6 days down with the flu kept me from my PCA=
duties but I am back and ready to go as there is a lot that must be done t=
o get ready for 2010.
2010 Road Calendar
I have received some feedback from promoters with respect to 2010 race date=
s. I want to thank those who have been able to provide me with this key inf=
ormation as I know it can be a lengthy process securing a race venue and da=
te. I am hoping to have a first draft of the new calendar for public consum=
ption by November 15th.
2010 PCA Membership Drive
I will have the BikeReg site up today for the 2010 PCA Membership Drive. I =
will follow that effort with emails to all USAC PA registered teams as well=
as all non PA teams who are part of the PCA family. The BikeReg site was a=
success last year and I am hopeful it will be again in 2010. If you are yo=
ur team=E2=80=99s PCA representative look for the link on BikeReg and I wil=
l send it out as soon as it=E2=80=99s available. The PCA is as strong as it=
s member base and without your support and dedication to cycling in PA we w=
ould not be able to give the 2123 licensed riders a place to race their bik=
e each and every weekend from March to December. The BikeReg link is: http:=

2010 Annual Governance Meeting
The PCA annual governance meeting is the cornerstone to every road, track, =
and cross season as team members and promoters gather to talk about the spo=
rt we love, review and approve/reject new legislation to govern the PCA, an=
d set the direction for the PA Road and Track BAR. The meeting has traditio=
nally been held in January and that will be the case in 2010. The meeting w=
ill take place from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Victory Brewing Company in Downing=
town on January 16th. I will send out a proposal template in my next email =
that can be used to submit prospective changes/additions to the PCA rules a=
nd regulations. I will confirm the 1/16 date with Victory Brewing this week=

PCA Web Site Updates =E2=80=93 You Can Help
The PCA web site has undergone a metamorphism the past few years and its pr=
esentation and functionality is a vast improvement from its predecessor. Wh=
at it lacks, and has been a challenge for the PCA over the years, is conten=
t. The PA BAR rules and other critical information is outdated and the boar=
d is committed to having that data up to date by year=E2=80=99s end. You ca=
n be a part of this effort by sending me updates and corrections. Thanks!
LA Summit
This weekend I will travel to Colorado Springs for the annual Local Associa=
tion Summit at the new location of USA Cycling. I am blessed to be able to =
attend the summit on behalf of the PCA and it=E2=80=99s similar to what the=
PCA membership experiences at the annual governance meeting. It=E2=80=99s =
a great opportunity to exchange information and find out what other LA=E2=
=80=99s are doing to improve the racing experience for their member clubs. =
Last year I presented an overview of the PA BAR scoring system and that was=
very beneficial to LA=E2=80=99s from KS and NY that were looking to form a=
BAR. I will have an update next week.
PCA Awards Banquet Follow Up
A few housekeeping items from the PCA Awards Banquet=E2=80=A6 Darco and I a=
re working on a BAR jersey order so those riders who did not receive a jers=
ey at the awards banquet will have one for 2010. I will be mailing award ce=
rtificates to those clubs that are having year end award ceremonies and if =
I do not get all of them out I will bring them to the governance meeting in=
January for distribution. Thanks to all for your patience.
WPA Cross
Last week I was submitting race results in the USAC results and ranking sys=
tem for the Murrysville and Raccoon Cross races held in the Pittsburgh area=
a few weeks ago. To my delight there were a significant number of eastern =
PA riders that made the trip west to contest the events. I want to thank F=
red and Gary for promoting the races and for all the riders who traveled we=
st to race. I am sure by now everyone knows my thoughts on races in WPA and=
if we get more races promoted in the west and riders travel to enter those=
events everyone will certainly benefit. Thanks!
