Subject: ***URGENT***Council of Prince Georges County PTA Charter
To:
Greetings Prince Georges County Residents,
We need your immediate assistance. MDPTA is
considering pulling the Charter for the Council
of Prince Georges County PTA. As parent
advocates and concerned Prince Georges County
residents we can not allow this to happen. Below
you will find a letter ready for you to enter
your information and forward to the MD PTA
President, Ms. Mary Jo Neil, at
<mailto:presi-@mdpta.org>presi-@mdpta.org.
The Prince Georges Council is scheduled to appear
at a hearing at the MDPTA Headquarters on
Wednesday, 3/21/07 to defend our Charter. I
along with Regina Bracey, Walter Searcy, and a
few other PTA Delegates and Presidents attended
the County PTA Executive Meeting on Monday,
3/19/07. The Council spent more time arguing
with each other and not enough time devising a
plan to save our Charter.
At this point we have nothing left to loose. We
have strength in numbers. It is time for us to
stand up and save our PTA Charter. Please ask
your entire Parent Body to send this email to
MDPTA. Please make the subject line read:
***URGENT***Council of Prince Georges County PTA
Charter

Concerned Prince Georges County Resident)
Dear Ms. Neil,
The parents of Prince Georges County are
devastated and greatly concerned to learn that
MDPTA is considering pulling the Council of
Prince Georges County PTA Charter based on
negligence and the lack of management on the part
of the County PTA Executive Body. We understand
the importance of being in good standing with
MDPTA and National and want to ensure that all
such requirements are met. Nothwithstanding the
most immediate task of re-submitting valid by-law
revisions, we further seek your advice and
counsel to provide assistance to prevent the
charter from being revoked at this juncture.
Additionally, we implore your assistance by
lending leadership and guidance to ensure a more
transparent and successful transition as we
prepare for the forthcoming election process.
As you are aware this is an election year for our
Council. The Delegates are committed to
selecting candidates to fill the Executive Board
positions with candidates who are dedicated to
our children and the mission of the PTA. We are
committed to improving the image of the Council
and would like to be given the opportunity to
make a positive impact on the education process
in Prince Georges County.
We realize the Bylaws were returned for
clarification and respectfully ask for an
extension from MDPTA. We are asking that MDPTA
allow the parents of Prince Georges County to
conduct the election in May 2007 and allow the
newly elected Executive Body the opportunity to
correct the wrong of the last two years.
Prince Georges County has made tremendous strides
to improve the quality of education for our
students. We have a newly elected School Board;
a refreshing Superintendent who is bringing
highly qualified executives to assist with
turning our schools around and parental
involvement - the most critical component of a
successful school and community based
collaboration. Parents must be allowed to be
included in this process. The removal of the
Charter for the Prince Georges Council at this
time, would negatively impact the education
process in Prince Georges County.
We respectfully ask that MDPTA allow the parents
of Prince Georges County to have a voice in the
education process. The stakes are too high and
our children's future depends on it.
Thank you for your attention and consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
Your Name.
