ANNOUNCEMENTS
*** "We Are All Smith Islanders" ***
Sunday, May 15, 4 pm
Greenbelt Community Center, 15 Crescent Road, Greenbelt
(on lawn in sun; indoors if rainy)
Global warming is a real and present danger, no longer to be seen just as a
threat to the next generation. In this half-hour documentary Chesapeake
Island Action Network portrays Maryland's last inhabited Chesapeake Bay
island - whose fishing community is already nearing extinction - as a
harbinger of the effects of global warming on our region's health, economy
and environment. Against this grim scenario the film also presents some
heartening, viable clean-energy solutions. Written, filmed and directed by
Mike Tidwell and Mike Cohen.
Charlie Garlow, a board member of Chesapeake Climate Action Network,
will introduce the film, present the latest energy policy
initiatives, and lead discussion.
For more details on both group and film see www. chesapeakeclimate.org.
Greenbelt Access Television will videotape the event to show later on local
cable television.
