This month *Roan Antelopes Music’s* special was inspired by John’s concert
this past weekend in MUSINA. The land of the Baobabs, very nostalgic to be
so close to “home” and to look across the river. Well there was no time for
reminiscing as the Rhodies and Zimbos in Musina had planned a stunning
get-together organized by George and Lara not to mention the festive venue
decorated by Brian and Dil Kalshoven with flags & balloons.
The audience ranged from 5 year olds to about 105 years old. All singing,
dancing, making trains and just having a good time. One of the guests, a
South African that attended said” These people know how to enjoy themselves;
they are like a big family! Where do they come from…? “Well we gave
her a *HERITAGE
– Where we come from CD* and said to her “play this and you will understand
Mam!”
Folks requested “Oh Umtali” telling us that the 100th anniversary of the
founding of UMTALI high school is coming up shortly! Another great song on
the HERITAGE CD.
* *
*HERITAGE – Where We Come From *one of John’s best CD’s* *to date! The
collection of songs will take you back down memory lane, put a smile on your
face, bring a tear to your eye and even get your feet tapping. The *14 songs
* honour great people of Rhodesia like *Clem Tholet* and *Sally Donaldson*,
salute great regiments like the *Rhodesia Regiment* and the *Selous Scouts*,
reminisce about happenings, people and places sometimes humorously and
sometimes dramatically. The public are always asking for lyrics to John’s
meaningful songs and so *Roan Antelope Music* have included a booklet in
this CD containing *all the lyrics of the songs* and the beautiful packaging
is laced with *nostalgic photographs* of a proud heritage. Songs on this
CD:-
* *“*Where do we come from”, “Me and old Bill” “Pamwe Chete” “Father Claude”
“Old Warrior” “I grew up on your music” “Oh Umtali” “Song for Sally” “I
remember Clem” “Sit Nomine Digna” “Rhodesia Regiment” “Chikurubi” “When you
say Zvakanaka” “Voices of Rhodesia”*
