Writing 1st person/Challenges  pe-@mail.codenet.net
 Nov 28, 2003 23:29 PST

HI ALL...
Just in case anyone noticed I was away, I had a problem with the DSL over the
last couple days, but they finally got it fixed, so I've been off line

Anyway, for those interested, here's another Writers Resources written by one
of the authors on Makebelieve_YG into the Behind The Scenes section of the
archive

"First Person Issues" By Caro Dee
http://www.squidge.org/~peja/writingtips/FirstPersonIssues.htm

The Writing Tips section of the archive can be found at the bottom of the
fandoms index. If you would like to contrib to the Writing tips section, simply
post your tips article to the list your on and mention that its for the tips
section

Now I guess its that time again as well, so here are some new challenges for ya
all to pick through. As always, feel free to adapt these to your own needs. Its
not necessary to stick to the time limits on the 15 minute or opening line
challenge. If the words are flowing, ride 'em.
The whole idea is to make fun, right?

Today’s challenge is...

Your word for the 15 minute brainstorming challenge is ....

"What-ev-ra..."

words to be included in the improv:

exhausted
alone
tepid love
emasculated

The Opening lines are

"Why don't you touch me anymore....

and finally, for those of you who crave a fleshed out honest to gawd challenge
kind of thing...I'm throwing ya three today

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER CHALLENGE

The characters have a blow out fight....the underlying reason, one doesn't think
the other cares and can't stand being in an unrequited love relationship. The
one who loves, walks away, leaving the other to realize he/she loves this person
and sets out to win him/her back

THE BACHLOR

this one is two fold...
First challenge: I'm betting you've at least caught one or more eps of The
Bachelor, The Bachelorette, or that one that paired gay men????

so that's the idea here. its very likely gonna have to be an xover....take your
main character, the Bachelor and set him in the setting that these shows does,
dating starts with 25 persons. To make this interesting, you can go het, slash
or bi...yes, the singles can be a mix of male and females...blame that on the
harem challenge, I'm thinking. The Bachelor has to do the group date, the one
on one date, just like in these shows...ending with the rose ceremony at the end
of each stage. You may choose to throw in a ringer, if you like the person the
bachelor is secretly in love with. Make it as twisted, or romantic as you're of
a mind to. Have fun with it

The Second Challenge
Your Bachelor has agreed to participate in a bachelor auction....the twist,
he/she doesn't realize this auction is for keeps. The buyer buys him/her for
life.

Wanna play?

(Note: you can alter this challenge so it fits the list, so if the challenge
calls but it doesn't quite click do what ya want to make it better)

That said, remember to include the headers

title/author/email/fandom/pairing/rating/summary/notes/warnings/disclaimer/url

in your story and drabble submissions. Headers without the email and/or url will
go up without them. Don't lose out on your feedback, dearhearts, or the chance
to promo your site

Finally, any challenges I make on list can be forwarded to other lists, but the
archive would like to have any stories that result from this included in the
archive, so do ask the authors if they would, please forward stories to me at
dalto-@yahoo.com or post them to one of direct submissions lists
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Makebelieve (general/hetero/slash)
http://groups/yahoo.com/group/MakebelieveJr (general/hetero)
http://lists.squidge.org/info/Makebelieve (general/hetero/slash)
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MakebelieveFicOnly (general/hetero/slash)

Stories, drabbles and snippets will be posted to the archive unless you include
a no archive notation. If you'd like to know when they go up, since this is
going multi-list, I'll be throwing out updates on the direct submissions lists.

If you'd like to sample more plot bunnies check out our PB page
http://www.squidge.org/~peja/behindthescenes/plotbunnies.htm

Have fun, luvs...and I'll be back to challenge you again later
