I would add that when Jesus said, "My God, my God why has thou forsaken
me?" He wanted to draw our attention to Psalms 22 which is a Psalm of
victory.
Revelation's picture of the Christian church as God's enemy, for the
most part seems to be fulfilled. Adventist so desperately want to be
the last great hope, yet because we echo the basic lies all other
Christians shout, with our own special addition of making a god out of
the Sabbath, we are left with recounting/defending our past and
encumbering our numbers and good works. We easily see the sins of our
associates denouncing pharisaical attitudes and practices firmly
convinced that that is not us, yet it is.
A lot of Christians don't know there is an alternative to what they have
been taught, yet to do or say anything is to cause disruption and panic
the keepers of the "truth". So what are we to do about it? I wish some
disciples of John would go and ask Jesus, "Is this the one or should we
look for another?"
