RE: CCTA calcium scoring  Sheryl Wildoner

Yes actually our scores are self pay, in advance. We no longer do scores before a CTA of the coronaries, so we don't run into the problem of calcifications and canceling the CTA. We actually made the change to reduce dose, but it also conveniently solved the other issue.

It's just what we thought, I guess we will be doing the same. Do you guy's offer the calcium scoring for self payers.. Or don't you want to open that can of worms. I am trying to hold the Radiologist off on going that way for a while until things can be well thought out, and checked out.

Thanks for your help,
Denise

We eat it. We always file the claim though, otherwise there's no way to
get statistics on how often a procedure is done. Hopefully it becomes
payable before too many years go by!

Subject: [SERADlist] CCTA calcium scoring

Hi list,

I need some advice on calcium scoring, 0144T. We are starting to do
CCTA'S and a dilemma has already come up. When a pt is scheduled to have
a CCTA and has the calcium scoring portion done before proceeding to
0146T or 0147T. If the calcium score is too high to finish the test, how
do you bill, Noridian says you cannot report 0144T. What does your
facility charge, or how do you handle this situation. Would you put a
52 modifier on 0146T &0147T or does your facility eat the charge.

Your help is greatly appreciated
Denise
