Sounds like the cardiologist is billing for the same exam. You will need to
find out why they are billing for the same exam as the radiologist.

I am assuming that you have a report with your radiologists interpretation,
correct? Is the cardiologist the ordering physician on them??

Subject: [SERADlist] In-patient Myocardial Perfusion Studies

Happy New Year to All!

Could use some advise concerning Myocardial Perfusion Studies. We are
billing for a new practice to our billing service - a small Radiology Group
and have begun receiving denials for in-patient Myocardial Perfusion
Studies. These denials are indicating paid to another provider and upon
researching, the provider is a cardiologist. It is the same cardiologist in
each instance and before I move forward with his office I wanted to know if
there are any special guidelines or protocol that I am not aware of. I have
never had this problem with any of our other practices. I am wondering if
this is hospital "politics" although my three Radiologists don't seem to be
aware of why the cardiologist is billing. I do not have access to their
prior billing service and I wonder if they were just adjusting upon denial
of these procedures?

Is there something different about in-patient Myocardial Perfusion Studies
that I don't know? Would appreciate any help.

Thank you,

Joni Foster
