SUMO ### 89 15th August 2004 Start: HASHimoto station End: Shrub's BBQ
bar.
Hare/Chef: SHRUB, *Driver: TEQUILLA-PUCCY, Beer Meister/Sweep: STIM.
Weather: not too sweltering (unlike high 30s of previous day); a deluge
in the morning left some cloud cover that moved off to the northeast
keeping it fine for the remainder. A special final F-Off run for STIM
sponsored by Sumo with a great turnout of friends.
Around we wound an intermediate-level trail that looped the backstreets
of Hashimoto to Aihara incorporating bits of trails of yonder days and
ended in the 'burbs near Nihonmatsu. The hare loves hills and, because
this course was too flat, had to make do with stairs over roads and
rail. Allowances were made for the people pushers and gympy walkers
with a nifty short cut that at one stage put DEW-BOY in the lead as FRB!
On-in to cold beers was in short time and true FRBs were ODD-LAY and
RAPUNZLE while DFLs were GYMPY and BLOWIN'-BUBBLES who stumbled in just
about an hour later.
MASTER-SHAFTER has a photo webpage link, and here are just a few of the
cast: Sumo Virgins: MATUKE (banana?) of Harare Hash.; JUST-DO-ME;
TEQUILLA-CAT; MOONY-CHAN; BLOWIN'-BUBBLES; T-BIRD3 (still in diapers)and
Just-Hiroko; plus two visitor friends of THUNDER-BALLZ-'R'-GO and Amanda
who got to get a new name....
6-timers with naming options: Samurai's PWE declined but Just-Amanda had
no choice. Toyed with were possibles of "Spare-Change" because of her
bra-purse, "Miss-Whippy" and "Candy-Pants" were also contenders. But
because of the vagaries of the pack and for no particular reason the
final vote yielded KRUSTY. Her response? "That's horrid!" Well sorry
KRUSTY, but it could have been much, much worse (eg. it could have been
"Crust-pants").
10-timer: 8-MY-BALLS. 40-timers: PRINCESS-BUBBLES and 69%. 70-timer
veteran: ICE-DELIGHT. Double-digits (22 and 11 times): NO-I-DON'T and
OPEN-WIDE. Somebody nominated "pony-tails" which netted a few tidy
folks of various genders and generations. BALDING should have been
nominated for beating up the poor defenceless kid KOFUGU. And we were
happy to see BUTR with FLYING-FROG in tow arrive late better than never.
Well we just had to toast (roast?) the hare and his lovely wife for
feeding us a great curry and letting us trample the lawn again. And the
" * " next to Driver above is because SHRUB was about half way through
laying the tail when he realized the bag-van keys were still in his
pocket... What to do? What to do, indeed! Well he raced home and
hopped in his truck to deliver them. Then it was with sadness we
listened to STIMULATE-HER's sayonara speech that would have never ended
if not for the bottle of Shochu present that took his voice away and
turned him an interesting shade of bright red. We have all appreciated
STIM's huge effort and many contributions; Sumo hashdom will miss him
dearly.
Next meeting: Some of us are off to sunny Oshima for the weekend, but
there is a Samurai family hash on Sunday 22nd and news about the
following Sunday 29th will be posted as soon as our webmaster,
TEXAS-T-BAG, returns from Alaska. We are planning something out towards
the NE of Tokyo to try to entice CAMEL-TOE and ALL-WETTER back into the
fold. Stay tuned...... On-out HeAdSHot
