SUMO Trail #92, 18-20th September, 2004. The IZU SHIMODA OVERNITER.
Start/finish: Shimoda/Yumigahama; Hares: SnowWhite, KhumingRouge,
DogLover (and on Monday's Kanto-Katch style trail, TIGHT-WAD).
Another great weekend of hashing adventure with good humour and happy
memories. The Saturday trail started from historic Shimoda town and I
wish I could say more but as I shortcutted the tough bits I wouldn't
know. However there was a great white-sandy beach with surfers and
surferettes and a BEER-STOP in a Pirates' Cave where we could cool off
in the lapping waves. The second half of the trail took us to the
destination beach where we had cold beers before heading for the
Minshuku and banquet.
Sunday's trail led up beside the river and soon split into "Men Only"
and "Ladies" routes. The longer course led into the jungle and down
through a bamboo grove where there were old air-raid shelters carved
into the hillside then, after a quick detour to a picturesque shrine, we
all joined up to follow the riverbank over the bridge to the beach again
(unless you were MISSBEAN who couldn't stop herself short-swimming
across the creek to lead the pack on-home). Well, most of us finished
the trail but there were some casualties: STIFFY managed to annoy some
wasps and they stung him in the breast and nailed Just-Thomas once near
the balls and once in the butt. Soon STIFFY's head swelled up and he
started to look like the Elephant-Man with a bad case of "hives", so we
took him to the local hospital to have him drained, CHUCKY-CHUNDA
playing nursemaid.
The reduced crew circled up like this:
Virgins: LETTUCE-PLAY undog-like wife of DOG-FCUKER, Just-Yurina and
CAN-I-CHEW from the Ladies' Hash, then Just-Nuiko who was actually a key
player in the Oshima-gang, and, mea culpa to HONEST-ABE who has joined
the SUMO Hash four times now (and claims to have been a hare too).
6th Timers who declined the naming option: SNOW-WHITE and WOODEN-EYE;
however later over the evening meal it was unanimously decided to name
Just-Thomas and, for reasons that should bee apparent, his new name is
BEE-MY-FRIEND.
20 timer Patch to: TIGHT-WAD and another down-down for it being the 20th
day of month. 70 Timer: CHUCK-CHUNDA was occupied with wasp-related
duties so a look-alike ODD-LAY took a down-down.
Late-comers (those who missed first day) were: UP-AND-CUMING and
HULA-GIRL (en route from Kyoto) and Early F-Offs were: BUBBLE-BOY (duty
although he left his ID card behind), ATE-A-MAME who said she had a
hairdressers' appointment, DOG-FCUKER and OPEN-WIDE off to scout trails,
and HONEST-ABE for some other reason. We had the first of many
re-enactment of the "wasp incident" with a look-alikes UP-san playing
STIFFY (who MISS-BEAN renamed "Stingy"), Kitamura-sensei (aka TIGHT-WAD)
playing CHUCKY, HULA-GIRL with a dazzling performance as BEE-MY-FRIEND,
with ODD-LAY taking the part of the sexy nurse, and Miss-BEEn, a natural
choice, for the vespid role.
Next Sumo hash is Sunday 3rd October starting as usual at 2PM from
Mogusa-en on Keio-sen. Hare is birthday boy KHU
