Sorry Darla, but I haven't listened to them. if you google loadstone
and gps you should find their web page, which should list the supported
phones.

one thing to mention is that my understanding of loadstone is that since
it is free, it does not have any street maps. it only lets you mark
points of interest, and perhaps download a file of shared points of
interest for your area. I think it tells you what points of interest
are near=by, how far and in what direction, but it doesn't do any sort
of routing; you'll have to pay for a gps with maps or with access to
maps over an internet connection for that.

Dear Chip,

Does it list anywhere which phones are covered; I'm still
using my Nokia
6620 with Talks. I'm just now getting more comfortable exploring
things--some applette and features don't seem to be in
logical places, but
it would be nice to have GPS running from a cell phone rather
that having
one more thing to carry.

The first generations of the KNFB Reader weren't impressive to me,
especially given the cost and the fact that I vehement object to an
organization putting their name on something when they won't
be around if
the equipment breaks, but they will laugh all the way to the
bank, so I
would be more inclined to gat a Simian if Talks works on it.

Darla

P.S. Sadly, Gary's Trekker no longer works because older
PDA's were used as
a part of the package for map storage and to issue commands, etc.

 Hi all,

below are links to mp3 files of a demo/tutorial for a free gps
navigation system for the blind, called LoadStone, which
runs on Symbian
phones such as the KNFB reader. if you're interested you
will need to
download from the links today, as this is a very temporary holding
location, and these files will not stay there long. they will
eventually be placed on the blind cool tech web site though if you
decide later that you'd like to hear them.
