Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!
--Benjamin Franklin

Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world
will live as one.

CELEBRATE YOUR LIBER-TEA!

The Boston Tea Party is famous in the history of our nation’s
independence because it represents one of the events leading ultimately
to the American Revolution. On December 16, 1773 between thirty and
sixty men, disguised as Indians, boarded ships owned by the British East
India Company. Once aboard, they smashed open the tea from wooden chests
and threw it overside. Washed ashore next morning, the cargo was of
course worthless. Other ports followed suit, and every patriotic
American gave up tea drinking and turned to coffee.

Children are naturally curious about the origins of holidays and
celebrations and I’m excited to share a tremendous website with
you...take a virtual field trip today through My America at
http://www.field-trips.org/ss/america/index.htm

Thankfully, even the most patriotic of Americans can now enjoy their tea
and can drink to their good health! Researchers have found a strong
link between drinking black tea and healthy arteries in patients who
already have heart disease. Black tea is found in the type of tea bags
that you are likely to have in your kitchen cupboard. Turns out, black
tea contains powerful antioxidants that help prevent the build-up of
cholesterol on the walls of your arteries. So, on this Independence
Day, enjoy a tall cool glass of tea, give the following recipe a try:

---------------------------------------

SOUTHERN “GOOD LORD” TEA
(as in “GOOD LORD, that’s good tea” or
“This is how the GOOD LORD must drink His tea”)
-------------------------------
3 family sized tea bags (I like Luzianne or PG Tips)
pinch baking soda
1 1/4 cups sugar
lemon, if desired
water & ice cubes

Bring 3 cups of water to a boil, add a pinch of baking soda and the tea
bags. Remove from heat and cover, allowing the tea to steep. Allow to
sit for at least 20 minutes. Put the sugar into the bottom of a gallon
pitcher and then add the concentrated tea, discarding the bags. Stir
and fill with cold water/ice cubes. Refrigerate, garnish with a lemon
if desired.

COURTESY COACHING FOR SCHOOLS: SEE YOU IN ST. LOUIS!

For over 300,000 students throughout Missouri and Illinois, school is a
place where they not only learn about the world around them, but also
how to get along in it. ‘Character Plus’ is a project of the
Cooperating School Districts in St. Louis, Missouri and is the nation’s
largest community-wide initiative in Character Education.

Clearly, Missouri schools are at the cutting edge of what we here at The
Tea Party Company believe is the answer to many of the problems facing
education today. Our organization’s curriculum for schools offers a
unique ‘icing on the cake’ to their obviously strong foundation in civic
education.

We are proud to have been named a breakout session presenter at the
upcoming ‘Character Plus’ conference and are also offering a day-long
training event which is open to ALL educators on Thursday, August 26th
at Central Catholic St. Nicholas School in St. Louis. Participants in
this training will become ‘Certified Courtesy Coaches’ who will have the
ability to offer an unlimited amount of future classes utilizing the
materials and lesson plans of the ‘Courtesy Coaching’ curriculum in
their home schools. These course offerings include enrichment classes,
lunch-and-learn programs, schoolwide assemblies, daily lesson plan
integrations, and more! In addition to providing direct instruction in
the behaviors, skills, and values of polite behavior, this designation
also represents a unique fund-raising and friend-raising opportunity
when the classes are offered to their school’s surrounding community for
a nominal charge. To learn more, or to register online, visit our
website at www.mannersforkids.com or 586-246-3123.
