THREE EASY RESOLUTIONS WORTH KEEPING!

============================
THREE EASY RESOLUTIONS WORTH KEEPING!

1. Go Bookcrossing! What is bookcrossing? According to the new entry
in the Oxford English Dictionary, it is ‘The practice of leaving a book
in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do
likewise’. It’s also a good way to practice Cultivating a Culture of
Courtesy by sharing a loved book with a total stranger...learn more at
www.bookcrossing.com!

2. Stay connected: First, buy a nice set of stationery which will
encourage you to write (www.americanstationery.com is a good source).
Having nice personalized note cards is really a cost/time savings when
you compare these multifunctional papers to repeated trips to the card
shop. I keep envelope/notecard sets in my day planner, my desk at work,
and I even use them as bookmarks so that they'll be close at hand when I
think of someone that I want to drop a line to. As I’ve confessed in
this newsletter on numerous occasions, I am the WORLD'S WORST person for
mailing out things, so keeping in touch with handwritten notes is a New
Year's Resolution that I've repeated myself for several years. But as
you stash away this year’s received Christmas cards, try this idea: sit
down and address the outside envelopes of twelve blank cards to various
friends and relatives, leaving the inside note blank. After all, how
many holiday cards did you receive from someone with whom you ONLY
communicate at this time of year? What a shame...gem clip one of each
of these blank sentiments to each month in your calendar or day planner.
Promise yourself that during any 'down time' in that month, you'll drop
a line to this person in your life. At the end of the year, you've put a
smile on the face of twelve important people...a maximum kindness with
minimal effort involved!

3. Commit to give: I have recently heard more and more about
‘sacrificial giving’ which is a spiritual process by which we give of
our resources to a point which requires sacrificing. This is a
difficult concept for many of us--who are accustomed to giving, but
hardly to the point that our own lifestyle is affected. One way to get
started is to commit to a project or program which will last long-term
(monthly sponsorship via automatic withdrawl, for instance or open a
Christmas Club account and have the check made out to your charity of
choice at the end of the year). For some other unique giving
opportunities, check out The Box Project at www.boxproject.org or
consider Locks of Love at www.locksoflove.org. Thanks to encouragement
from my friend Nadine, I’m on my way to growing my own hair to a point
where I’ll have a ten-inch long ponytail which I anticipate donating to
Locks of Love sometime in the spring (I’ll keep you posted)!

JANUARY IS NATIONAL HOT TEA MONTH!

Brew some black, oolong, or green tea if you want to buff up your bones.
Over the course of ten years, the bone density of tea drinkers increased
by 4 to 6 percent more than those who went tea-less, according to a
recent Taiwanese study. Just two cups a day provided the same bone
benefits as two to three servings of dairy. Double up by adding some
milk to your cuppa!
