Re: 2005 MS150 Kickoff Ride!  Brian Hague

Pretty hard-core, Ken ... but if you read the fine print, they're not doing
the ride if it's below 32. I think this'd be a good kick-off for the year,
and will do it if I can. I've been riding the trainer fairly diligently
(it's a balmy 78 degrees in my basement :D), but mostly doing off-season
strength training.

I'll also be setting up some COR-specific "event"-type rides in '05, so stay
tuned for that.

Brian

I am planning to ride it, even if it is down to 20 degrees. My feet trick
is to wear thick ski socks and to wrap my feet in plastic bags before
putting them into the shoes. An even better idea is to buy "booties" that
fit over the bike shoes. I have been doing pretty well this fall riding
down to 30 degrees or so. I am good for at least 90 minutes before my feet
run into problems. I also wear a baclava on my head, and ski gloves on my
hands.

I did this 2 years ago and it was pretty fun, despite my frozen toes
and getting lost in Longview.
I've done a January 1 ride for the past three years in a row. Each
time to a new place.. sort of a new year refresher to kick off the
training season..

The ride depends on the temp being above 32 degrees. Distance 25-40 miles.

Shall we?

Mr. Williams?
