Poem Of The Tiger
Dispassionate scientist
of trust young with
adaptation gait like water
Lurking cadavers behind
her eyes long pink tongue
licking lips cleaning
wounds basks in shade
magnified pain
It is strongly recommended
her unlimited legend
be kept entirely from her
she might alter the pack's boundaries
You can see nothing of the tiger
though you can hear her breathe
Mates among the river shade
yellow eyes difficult
to understand
the killing of cubs
Male dominant dynasty
in a divided kingdom
Death by combat
to win the female
Tragic loss
shared secrets
whose offspring
graceful and abundant mists
She knows very little
outside mating or killing fields
But revelation staggered
first king
climbs the brief promontory
towards loping prey
Tigress catching cub up safely
in her jaws
Scans through leaves
and passing shower
poet of survival
Later king and queen sleep
offspring fed and breathing
Court now held in dreams
