SONGS NOT OF INFLUENCE
stanley gemmell -
"To Me do ye reverence! to me come ye through tribulation of ordeal,
which is bliss." AL III:62 -
Aleister Crowley
_____
Midnight falls upon the stage
Listen listening thru darkness
No one sits idly by the streams of your eyes
Aqua and light, becoming ropes of dreams
You say I have stained you say you
You say you deceive me
With my body of silence I cause silence
Within you
With your body of woman
Silent, bleeding sunrise
So that re birth of be holder
Holding grace
Smoke from the sleeping Guinevere
Carresses Gaetano's sleep
A sail set on the royalmast
Announcing Spring's single eye
Sirens sing single thoughts
Careless monarchs to the sea
In the city, on all fours
The moon is full of silence
When you open your mouth to speak
Roaring, crystal waters
The living theatre photographed
Purple and mauve
The two tasting wine
And death
Again it is noon as blue and forgetting
Thrown away dreams
Gleaming upon the altar of suffering
A new born babe clutching roses and moaning s
I no longer care that you are dying
Since your death
Takes more than time from me,
Frantic, love making
Needles and floating chunks of amber
When in disgrace I hunt the sea for your love, killing
Ignorant of the angel w
Bearing fertility and the grape
And in the sloping belly
The missing planet oscillates
Shadow on your lips,
Other people's evening
Drums of the sun king,
Freckled skin
_____
1999
inspired by the poetry of christina harvey
Song of Perfection
Into the roseate cup of your ear
Past tender lobe down pink shelled
Ridge and curve and shadow
Past upward slope of abundant neck
Touch upon small mole
Sweep slow thunder, unmoving song
Slipping down the smooth of skin
Gracing cleft of chin
For a second perfection
Seems to say something
The hair is thick, luscious draped dark
And tangled in the wind
The heart holds fluttering
Wings
"My Wall, lovely, white jade
High and clear brow...
Representing things...
Perfections...
Lips impossibly full...
Confections of scarlet
Thought...
My Light, lovely,
Amber song..."
Everything a carress
Everything a sigh.

STANLEY GEMMELL
Midnight 19-20 Nov.
1999
I am not wildly in love with you
It is slow and wretched to love you
It is like watching a cloud
Full of rain to love you
You are so beautiful you are ugly
When I think of you I stop breathing
But I love you still, like an obstacle
And unmoving
When my sadness turns my
Heart to blood, it is you
Who I blame and I look
For you
I find you
I am blaming you
With my eyes full of love
I will always love you
There will be the sea
In your mouth
In your kiss
Sadness fisher soul
Ambilucent and delicious
Let me draw my circles
On your tummy
Tell me, again
How you love me
I love your hunting
Your music playing
Tender surface
Of planetary moon
Your pelvis is so soft
& gleaming ivory
You have eaten
Sovereign intelligenc3
Now you laugh...
Tell me, again
Water-Will,
Echo and heartbeat
Winter-Word,
Endless grace
Coded frieze,
Decadent poem
Take my love in your mouth,
Speak it
Return my warfare
Defile my peace
With your long, singing thighs
Cold marble
