How so as in a mirror
Strangely beautiful goat fish

Heaving still from heaven
As if skies were to open

Perhaps a voice at
Crest of crag or mountain
Chain binding wind to hair
(Impossibly blue!)
And hair with rain

Or again all this darkness cupped with the hands
And when the hands are opened, released to shadow
So that younger forms may feed at that which
One needs no longer, feast upon darkness
Feasting upon light.

The standing fish signs at the water's edge,
Where the word will mix with the sea.

Oh your beauty is an underwater current
Dragging sacred salmon with shining scales!

Oh your beauty is a ferocious and dark wind
Seemingly from nowhere!

Allow these waters to murmur
Allow these waters to run

For the water shall hurl itself from the cliff in safety
For the water shall twist into itself endlessly!

Near the forest edge
Full of beech trees
The forest queen
Celebrates
Her rise, steady
Like the dawn
And her face bears
No marks, but
Instead the rose blush
As of the sunlight
Striking both the trees
And the sea!
Dancing, sings
Joy unto you and me!

Whose voice fills the rocky canyons
So lately and full of truth?

Whose voice shall build again
This world of wonder, begun with fire
Kept watch over by hawk?

When the people see her
In her they delight
To converse upon the wise
And to see her trim body
As of the fine things!

Whose voice was wrought
Seemingly of gold?
Gathered with such care,
Drop by drop, the heavenly nectar!

Oh solace and darkening mystery,
To soothe the frosted feeling
And let the mountain and the forest
Meet the sea. Melt, you beautiful!
Echo song! For,
This cannot be wrong
To mix again with shadow
As of days of old.
To cry out with wonder
At memory and awareness.
Formless spirit, taking such
Bluish shape, inhabiting
Immortal cities
Marble white and
Purest gold!
Now with twilight comes
Deep urge to crash,
To crash into the sea!
Oh solace and darkening mystery!
