Vigil outside court for Jack Thomas this Thursday

Dear friends and supporters,
This coming Thursday, September 1, J4J will be holding a vigil outside
the Supreme Court and we would like to encourage anybody who can make it
to come along and show there support. The hearing will be an
administrative mention looking at whether Jack's QCs, Lex Lasry and Mark
Taft, will be required to undergo and ASIO security clearance in order
to represent him. As part of their anti-terrorism laws, the federal
government has tried to make Legal Aid conditional on background checks
on lawyers of those facing terrorism-related charges.
This is yet another way that the new laws are eroding civil rights and
that's a message that we hope to get out to the media this coming
Thursday. Hope you can make it. Details below.
