Indian Folk Medicine, Cure For Cancer & Many Diseases

The ancient Incas and Aztecs were probably the first to be familiar
with the healing powers of the herb Pau D'Arco. Many medical
practitioners in South America use Pau D'Arco tea as their primary
treatment for cancer and many other diseases and ailments. North
Americans have been trying Pau D'Arco tea, also known as Lapacho
tea for a few years. Now many claims have surfaced that this herbal tea,

made from the inner bark of the Pau D'Arco tree can CURE most viral
based diseases.

Quite a bit of research has been done and published about this
anti-viral, ant-cancer herb. I was referred to Roger DeLong's website
in my search for the latest in herbal healing. From what I have read,
Roger, a retired Delta airlines captain, has cured himself of cancer.
He seems to be quite dedicated to informing and sharing with others,
the benefits of drinking the tea. He goes so far as to offer a free
1 pound sample of the tea, to those diagnosed with cancer.

Dated 5 /14/02 in a email to me Roger wrote:

"My focus is on terminal cancer victims. I have received many reports
of complete cures (at least 24 cases) for these victims. In the last two

weeks I have received three "miracle cancer cure" reports. I have also
received a very positive report that the tea is effective for "Hepatitis
C"
disease recently. This is new information not previously been reported."

The Following article is from The Health List - A cutting edge
medical and alternative health report.

EUROPE REQUIRES PRESCRIPTION FOR VITAMINS.
IS USA NEXT?

A few weeks ago I told you about an unusual and potentially dangerous
legislation underway in Europe. Last March, the European Parliament
passed the "European Union Directive on Dietary Supplements," which
classifies vitamins as medical drugs rather than food supplements. Many
supplements and vitamins will no longer be available over the counter,
and the ones that are will be available only in very small doses. The
Directive grants a transition period of three years for vitamin
supplements already on the market. Then, in 2005, every EU country
will be required to implement this unacceptably severe and restrictive
regulation.

Obviously the major drug companies are hard at work in the European
Union, doing their best to establish a new world order for the
regulation
of vitamins and supplements - all to their continued great profits. I
haven't
seen any new developments regarding the Directive, but since it was
announced, I have been paying much closer attention to what's going on
Europe. And just this past week I came across two deeply divergent views

of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) that speak volumes
about how people are widening their view about health treatment, while
some governing bodies would like to regulate unrestricted treatments.

Ask The Doctor
_________________________

Editor's Note:

It has come to my attention that the 'Ask The Doctor' column may infer
the doctor is -prescribing- in his/her replies. This is not the case.
It is
our policy in this matter to offer suggestions for alternative
approaches
to healing.

We choose timely questions and offer information for further
evaluation. In some instances we may mention an herbal formula or
basic home remedy that has been shown to be effective. When
appropriate we will include an holistic explanation and background on
the mentioned ailment. We will suggest an herbal remedy, holistic
therapy and/or a type of health care professional to consult.

With the above in mind I have decided to change the name of the
column to 'Holistic Q&A' This will help us to expand on the knowledge
available to you, the subscriber. Each addressed question will have a
signature ID. We look forward to helping you in your alternative
choices.

---------------

This month's HOLISTIC Q&A question comes from Mel regarding
Rosacea. I have chosen to post 3 different responses so you may
become familiar with 3 of our consulting staff members and
their suggestions.

" Dear Doc,
What alternatives do you have to antibiotics for the skin condition
rosacea for my lovely niece Louise?
Thanks, Mel"

As you will read, there are several suggestions regarding an
alternative to antibiotics. cleansing the blood is the main factor
in ridding the body of a skin disorder. Herbal / Ayurvedic Medicine
addresses this while offering symptom relief.

Dear Mel,
Rosacea is a chronic skin disease that affects the middle third
of the face with persistent redness over the areas of the face and nose
that normally blush. The tiny blood vessels in these areas enlarge
(dilate)
and become more visible through the skin, appearing like tiny red lines.

Oral antibiotics can be a hazard , they can irritate the skin in
Rosacea. I
would consider "Neem" to be very helpful in Rosacea. Neem (Latin :
Azadirachta Indica) is a blood purifier and helps in all dermal
disorders.
Neem is available in various forms - soap, oil, tablets, cream etc. I
would
advise you to Wash face gently with Neem soap. Here are some more tips :

a) Take 2 to 3 Neem Leaf tablets each day. This helps to boost the
immune
system, oxygenate and increase blood circulation.

b) Rubbing the face tends to irritate the reddened skin. Some cosmetics
and
hair sprays may aggravate redness and swelling. Facial products such as
soap, moisturizers and sunscreens should be free of alcohol or other
irritating ingredients. Moisturizers should be applied very gently after

any topical medication has dried.

c) When going outdoors, sunscreens with an SPF of 15 or higher are
needed.

d) Drink 7-8 glasses of water a day. 10 glasses would be optimal, but if

your anything like me its sometimes tough to get in the 8 glasses.
Remember
your skin is the largest organ of your body and is the first to lose
moisture and become dehydrated.

For more tips, you can refer to my "Acne Tips" Page at :
http://www.herbscancure.com/acnetips.htm - This page lists home remedies

for all kind of skin disorders. Almost all the things that apply for
Acne
can help in Rosacea also.
Though you can get Neem at your nearest Herbalist, if you wish to buy
Neem
tablets, you can order them from :
http://www.herbscancure.com/neem500.htm. Since you are a PATH
subscriber,
when you order these, I will also send you 60 capsules of Turmeric free.

Wishing you good health.

Answer to the query:

Acne rosacea is a dermatological disease,
characterized by formation of black heads with marked
redness of the face. Secondary infection is quiet
common. The exact cause of the disease is not known
but hormonal imbalance is some times blamed for the
condition. Although this form of Acne is very common
in postmenopausal age and rare in young age, you are
advised to consult a qualified herbalist or
alternative medicine healer. I shall like to know
about age of the patient.

As regarding treatment is concerned, the groups of drugs,
which we use in treatment of skin disease, are known
as alteratives. They improve the blood and circulation
to the skin and remove toxins. Although a number of
herbs have been mentioned in herbal texts having
alterative activity, only few are clinically proven.
1. Acritum lappa
2. Rubia cordifolia
3. Hypericum extract standardized to hyperforin ( it
can cause phototoxicity, use with caution)
4. Smilax glabra
5. Allium sativum
6. Curcuma domestica standardized to curcuminoid.

You can take the standardized extracts of above herbs
under expert supervision. Also consume lot of
vegetables and fresh fruits. Do not use moisturizers
or some other chemical preparations, as herbal synthetic
drug interactions are known. Also if you are
hypersensitive to any of the drug, discontinue it.

----------

Mel,

There is no known cure for rosacea yet. What is known is that the
redness you see is groups of capillaries close to the surface of the
skin
that become dilated. There are theories of skin allergies such as to
makeup, food allergies (it would be ideal to have her tested). It is
best
not to wear makeup for now unless it is an all natural brand such as
Clientelle which can be purchased on QVC. Stress, vitamin deficiencies
and infection can be contributing causes. Avoid alcohol, hot liquids,
sunlight, extremes in temperature.

Personally I would recommend a good system cleanse particularly the
colon and the blood. Cleansing the blood with herbs such as Pau
D' Arco, Butchers Broom and Noni will relieve the inflammation. Noni
especially is a wonderful anti-inflammatory. I would also recommend
Essential Fatty acids, Primrose Oil contains linoleic acid which is
needed by the skin. Pycnogenol is a powerful antioxidant that
moderates allergic and inflammatory responses by reducing histamine
production. A good multi vitamin ( not one made synthetically by a
drug company ) and extra zinc and vitamin C to aide in skin repair.

Keep the skin clean with all natural soaps, NO makeup which I know is
hard to do especially when the skin is red and you want to cover it up.

Dr. Michael T. Murray, N.D. says that low gastric activity may also be a

cause. I don't know how old your niece is but low hydrochloric acid
levels are fairly common these days. See if she has any signs such as
belching, gas, diarrhea, constipation. If she does, she can take food
enzymes to help. Rosacea is a very common sign of low gastric
activity.

You are right to question the use of antibiotics. They are so commonly
prescribed unnecessarily. Antibiotics ONLY kill bacterial infections.
doctors often don't know if it is bacterial or viral. Overuse of
antibiotics
unnecessarily will cause problems later such as overgrowth of yeast.
Try olive leaf instead or tea tree. These are great and are
anti-bacterial
as well as anti-viral and anti- fungal.

Veterinary Blood Banks

Greetings Human Friends,

In my search to find the latest and best for your pets I found a
wonderful program for pets in need of a blood transfusion. In many
situations, when a pet is in physical trauma or is suffering with a
disease, blood is necessary for recovery and/or survival. Many
veterinary hospitals utilize staff animals for their supply. Well, not
so at
the Eastern Veterinary Blood Bank in Annapolis, MD. Their mission is
to maintain a nationwide Distribution Center Network in order to
provide 24 hour emergency coverage.

A regular donor program has been set up for animals at the EVBB.
It is just one of several in operation around the US.

Healthy donors are needed!

Donor Information:

The process is an almost completely painless procedure.
It takes about 10-20 minutes.
Your pet will not be sedated.
Only a small percentage of his or her blood will be donated.
Animals could donate blood without any problems as often as every
3 weeks so every few months keeps them in the program.
1 Donation could save up to 4 pets.

Benefits in most clinics include physical exam, free blood testing
for diseases, blood typing and tag identifying for free blood if ever
needed. And much more.....

Animal's health and age requirements are listed at the individual
blood banks. Visit the sites below to learn how they operate and
check the Distribution Sites listed.

The Animal Blood Bank in Dixon, Calif., the country's largest animal
blood supplier, ships between 1,600 and 2,000 units a month to 3,000
clinics throughout the United States and Canada.

Ask the family pooch to bite the bone for a few minutes and give a
donation...it could save a life, maybe his/hers!

Readers Feedback

Mon:4/29/02
Dear PATH News,

Thank you for your Spring issue article about, Fevers In Children.
A few days after reading the article I experienced an episode with my
4 year old daughter. She awoke in the middle of the night with a fever.
Remembering the information and suggestions from the article helped
me to better understand her condition.

I made her comfortable, encouraged liquids, watched her carefully and
saw her through her 2 day illness with an invasive bug. I felt more
confident in handling her illness after reading the article.

Thank You,
Mary Beth
