LINK POPULARITY
I have a question for the webmaster: I understand that
some of the major search engines like Altavista rely
heavily on 'linkability' to determine site ranking. I
understand what a link is but I dont understand why
this is such an important criterea for the search
engines? And what are the ways for increasing
linkability and what type/number of links need to be
made to be worthwhile?
Also I have recently subscribed to some Web newsletter
again that you recemended 3 years ago, but none seem
to be what I am looking for. I am getting stuff from
smithfam.com . are there any favourites that you have
for web marketing?
Time for me to go out with my Mrs for a bite to eat
and some snooker.

MY QUICKLY EXPLANATION
Incoming links.
Link Popularity.
Link Exchange
etc.
When you put a link on your page
to me... HoboTraveler.com
My ranking goes up in Google.
Or in MOST of the search engines.
They look at it like this.
You search for HOBO
Lots of sites ABOUT Hobo
If a webpage likes it enough to link to that page,
than it must be better than the one that they do NOT
link to.
The search is for the idiot.
The idiot will get angry at google if they do not get
the best page first. The idiot clicks on the first link at top,
and stops. The reasoning also goes that if you will pay
to have your page at the top of the search, you may
also make a better page. A real business.
