2:    REUNION SCHEDULE

Reunion plans are coming together quite nicely. This week a reunion
notice appeared in "Shift Colors" and the response has been tremendous.
So far... Plankowners are signing up in droves. Nearly 20 Plankowners
already confirmed. We're expecting a great turnout so if you've been
trying to make up your mind on whether or not your going to make it.
MAKE IT! This promises to be a truly historic event in the History of
Horne. You won't want to miss it.

As mentioned before... the reunion committee realizes that many of you

3.    COMMEMORATIVE COIN

The final proof for the Commemorative USS Horne 2003 Reunion coin is now

made available at the reunion while supplies last.

4.    TIME IS RUNNING OUT

IT'S CRUNCH TIME! The reunion committee has spoken to many people who
say they are coming to the reunion. When we remind them they have to
have their order in by August 15th... they say.

"Holy Cow. Why so soon? I didn't realize the order had to be in that
soon. The reunion isn't for two months."

Well... here's the deal. We have to total all the dinners for both the
banquet and dinner cruise, figure out how many chickens and how many
beefs and how many veggies... etc etc... then submit total numbers to
the hotel and cruise company by a September deadline.

We also have to place the order for name tags and Welcome Aboard
Pamphlets. These numbers will be based on the number of attendees.

We also have to order buses for transportation to Coronado for the
Stennis Visit and to the Embarcadero for the harbor dinner cruise. We
need to have firm numbers before we can place these orders. We don't
want to order four busses when we only need three.

We also have to make security arrangements with NAS Coronado and
Stennis.

We also have to start paying bills. So... as you can see... orders have
to be in by August 15th.

Bottom line: THE TIME FOR WAITING IS OVER. ORDER NOW!

We realize it's short notice for some folks who are just now finding out
about the reunion and we are sorry for that. But deadlines have to be
met and the dates have been set since November of 2003.

But never mind all that! You still have TWO WEEKS to get your order in.
Reunion details and order forms can be found here.

5.    ROOM RESERVATIONS

More than half the Horne Rooms at the Town & Country Resort are already
spoken for. They are going fast and won't last. If you haven't yet got
your room... do so as soon as possible. You can reserve by telephone.
(online reservations are no longer available as they were causing some
confusion on the length of stay required) You must reserve your room by
calling 1 800 772 8527. Tell them you are with the Horne reunion. AND
REMEMBER... if you plan on attending that Sunset Dinner Cruise... that
takes place Wednesday night. Make sure your hotel stay includes
Wednesday night.

Attendees who are unable to get a room with the Horne Block may have to
stay at another part of the resort. And this is a big resort covering
more than 40 acres. You could find yourself a couple blocks or more from
the Horne Hospitality Room. So get your room while the gettin' is good.

You may cancel up to 72 hours before check-in time and receive a full
refund. So even if you are still not sure you are coming to the
reunion... RESERVE YOUR ROOM TODAY... if it turns out you can not join
us... the hotel will provide a full refund provided you cancel at least
72 hours before check-in.

REMEMBER: The Special Horne Room rate is good for three days before and
three days after the reunion dates. See the reunion page for details.

6.    REUNION TID-BITS

HOTEL PARKING:
Hotel parking is normally $10 per car per day. Reunion Committee
President Rufus Reaves thought this was outrageous so he was smart
enough to get it in our contract way back in 2002 that Horne Reunion
Attendees staying at the Hotel would only pay $1 per car per day for
parking. AND... Rufus really came through when he got the same deal for
Horne Reunion Attendees NOT staying at the Hotel. So... bottom line...
HOTEL PARKING is $1 per day per car for all reunion attendees. Just tell
the attendant you are with the Horne Reunion. Any problems... contact
Rufus. (He'll probably be in the Horne hospitality room.)

This $1 per day parking rate is also good three days before and three
days after the reunion date. So for those of you getting in early...
make sure you tell them you are with the Horne reunion and don't let
them charge you $10 for parking.

HOTEL BREAKFASTS:
Included with the special Horne room rate is breakfast coupons. These
coupons will also be issued to Horne Reunion people three days before
and three days after the reunion dates. So if you are getting their
early... make sure you are getting your breakfast coupons.

AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION:
For those needing transportation from the Airport to the T&C Resort,
Resort officials recommend CLOUD NINE SHUTTLE: $9 from Airport to T&C
or
ORANGE CAB: $14 from Airport to T&C

DIRECTIONS TO T&C
For those of you driving to the T&C, detailed directions from the
airport as well as from all area highways will soon be posted in the
reunion section on the Horne Website. You will be able to print these
directions out and bring them with you.

RENTAL CAR PICK-UP
PAYLESS Rental car is giving Horne Reunion Attendees a special rental
rate. (see Reunion Section for details). You will find Payless Courtesy
Phones at the Airport. Call for a free shuttle pickup and ride to your
car at Payless Car Rental. BUT! Vehicles are subject to availability...
so if you plan on getting a rental car from Payless... reserve one
TODAY. 619.260.6363

NAME TAGS
Once we know how many name tags we need, we'll be referring to your
order form as to how you want your name to appear on your name. Be sure
you fill the order form out completely and clearly including how your
want your name to appear on your name tag.
