information please visit the Reunion Page at
http://www.usshorne.net/reunion2009.htm

Please help spread the word about the Reunion. Many people have not
updated their email addresses on the USS Horne Decklog so it's difficult
to get the word out. Contact any and all of your former shipmates who
you still know and let them know about the Reunion.

3: HORNE STATUS

Horne is just hours away from the first leg of what promises to be her
final cruise. Horne is expected to be towed from her present location in
Richmond, CA where she's been prepared for her trip to Pearl Harbor.

Several sources have informed me she will be used as a target ship
during RIMPAC 2008 Naval Exercises in July.

She was actually scheduled to be towed on 6/24, however adverse weather
and tide conditions have delayed her departure. She is now set to be
towed from San Francisco Bay on the afternoon of Thursday 6/26.

If anybody is in the area and can get photos of this event, please do so
and send them to me for the website. A great location would be the
Battery Spencer location just northwest of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's
very windy and cold up there but it would provide a great location to
get photographs of Horne departure.

As has been previously mentioned... Horne was moved from her long time
home in Suisun Bay. Visit USSHorne.net for more information. Lots of new
photos of Horne as she exists today.

4: FINAL MUSTER

On Sunday, May 18th at 10am in Richmond, California 10 former Crew and
several family members were on hand to say a final goodbye to Horne. Of
all the thousands of musters held on or near Horne, this was the final
muster that included former crew members. Photos of this event have been
posted on USSHorne.net.

Thanks to all who attended. Special thanks to Plankowner Sergio Marquez
who traveled all the way from Tucson, AZ to attend and to Mark Theis who
drove all the way from Yuma, AZ to attend. Plankowner Russ Purinton and
his wife drove from Reno, NV. Thanks again to everyone for making this a
special day! Read more and see photos at
http://www.usshorne.net/horne/final_muster.htm

That's all for now. Hope to see you in Richmond Sunday May 18th!

Respectfully,

Joe Westerberg
former IC1(SW)
in Horne '89-'91
