RE: Chris Hedges: Death of the Liberal Class  John Gelles

As technology overcomes scarcity it may be possible to measure profit in
logistical terms: food, clothing, shelter, care, education, recreation
enough for all.

Money profit under current debt-based systems can be replaced by real
profit in terms of more necessities for more people and the end of
poverty and unemployment.

None of such possibilities needs to take from the rich to enrich the
poor. It is true this may not happen. But the issue is HOW to make it
happen. If the rich were tenured, it might be easy to take power away
from the ignorant rich and get it to the brilliant engineers who would
rather make us all winners than louse up the earth and violate the
Golden Rule to the disadvantage of everyone.
