| Purpose: |
The "Take Our Word For It" Etymology Newsletter is a companion to the "Take Our Word For It" word-origin webzine. The webzine and the newsletter are both published weekly. In the newsletter we provide a preview of each new webzine issue, and we also include a newsletter-only discussion of the origin of a word or phrase, something that doesn't appear on the web site. In addition to or sometimes instead of the newsletter-only etymology, we provide book reviews or articles. Contests are also held every couple of months in the newsletter, and prizes are awarded! We also include in the newsletter information about any updates to the web site, such as new links being added or new books being offered in the web site book store. |
