STANDBY SAVED 100 DOLLARS
I told the other day how I smiled my way through, and
did not have to pay the 100 dollars to change the departure
date on my ticket.
The rest of the story...
American Airlines was able to waive the 100 dollars because
they had the option to give me a standby position. Smiling
and being nice only made her want to help,
Standby is when you wait for the plane to board, and
when it is full, if there are any empty seats you can fly
on that plane. Airline employees fly this way.
The airline wants to sell tickets. They empty seats cost
the same as the full seats, so if there is anyway to fill that
seat, they want to.
The reason they waived the 100 dollars for me was because.
I already paid for a ticket, and if they do not waive the price,
I may fly on the normal date of my ticket.
If they let me fly standby. The may still be able to sell a full price
ticket for the flight. REMEMBER I am standby, I do not
have a ticket until the plane is full. They have the option
to sell a full price ticket up till the time it leaves, and deny
me a ticket.
When the plane was full. I got on the plane. Filled an empty
seat, and now they can try to sell a full price ticket for the
original date on my plane.
