SPOOKY COLLECTIBLES AND THEN SOME
http://www.spookshows.com

"Spookshow" has got to be the premier Halloween site on the web,
particularly for collectors. It's the creation of Richard Miller, who
has been a self-described lover of all things Halloween since early
childhood. The site is a compilation of many different links and
compartments, including an incredible collection of vintage Halloween
trick-or-treat bags, and instructions on taking great Halloween photos.
There are also stories about the origin of Halloween, as well as essays
submitted by other Halloween enthusiasts.

GHOST ADS
http://www.lileks.com/ghosts

When the past clings on for dear life! Not the kind of ghosts one thinks
about around Halloween but at this site you'll see pictures of faded
painted ads from New York, Minneapolis, Fargo and other locales.

ATLANTIQUE CITY
http://www.atlantiquecity.com

Antique lovers will flock to the new Convention Center in Atlantic City,
New Jersey, October 16 & 17 for Atlantique City: Covering over 10 acres,
this show is the world's largest indoor antique and collectibles show.
Now in its 18th year the show features more than 1000 dealers from
around the world, free appraisals, and free furniture delivery within
200 miles of the show. Show hours are Saturday 10am-7pm and Sunday
10am-5pm.

EXPRESSO YOURSELF
http://www.starbuckscollectibles.com

For collectors of Starbucks memorabilia, there is a new quarterly
collector's newsletter - 'Espresso Yourself' - published by the new
Starbucks Collectors Club. For more information about joining the group
or receiving the publication, contact the editor at o-@webspan.net

BARBIE FOR PREZ
http://barbie.everythinggirl.com/activities/calendar/barbieforprez

Mattel Inc. has launched a presidential campaign for its popular fashion
doll, Barbie, promising to be a strong 2004 collectible not only for
Barbie collectors, but for political collectors, as well. Serious
collectors of political campaign memorabilia may pass by the Barbie for
President doll (about $20) for their personal collection, however this
type of product during a presidential campaign is nothing new. "Fantasy
campaigns" during election years have been popular for decades. One of
the most successful ones, from the 1970s, was the Archie Bunker for
President candidate. All kinds of buttons, T-shirts, coffee mugs and
bumper stickers were available with slogans like "I'm a Dingbat for
Bunker" and "Another Meathead for Bunker." The celebrity list of those
who have appeared on these fantasy buttons over the years almost reads
like a who's who -- The Fonz for President, Elvis for President, Dr.
Laura for President. Also, Yogi Bear, Snoopy, Bill Gates, Joe Camel,
John Travolta, Walter Cronkite, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elian Gonzalez, J. R.
Ewing, Elf, Cary Grant, Miss Piggy, Morris the Cat, Steve Urkel, Eddie
Cantor, Bruce Springsteen, Bart Simpson, Sophie Tucker, Vince Lombardi,
Jimmy Durante, John Lennon, Bullwinkle and even Michael Jackson.

FABRICS OF AMISH HISTORY
http://www.quiltandtextilemuseum.com

The Lancaster Quilt & Textile Museum in Lancaster, Pa., features a
million-dollar collection of antique quilts. It highlights the Amish
Quilt Collection as its permanent exhibition. About half of the 82-quilt
collection is currently on display in a 1912 Beaux Arts-style building
next to the Central Market in downtown Lancaster.

HALLOWEEN HAUNTINGS
http://www.salemwitchmuseum.com

Here's an idea for some Halloween fun! If you're in the neighborhood,
visit the Witch Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. If you're not in New
England, or if you prefer to stay home and hand out candy to the little
ghosts and goblins, then just log on to their site and learn "virtually"
everything you ever wanted to know about witches, the 1692 Salem trials,
and the evolving attitude toward witches, warlocks, and witchcraft since
those paranoid days. Did you know, for example, that both men and women
were tried in Salem for witchcraft activities? Learn about that and all
the rest of the spooky facts at the site, which also provides directions
to the museum and an online gift shop.

NODDING ON A WORLD TOUR
http://www.nodding.net

Meet the bobblehead dogs. They've abandoned the dashboard and headed out
on a world tour. Come along as these pooches frolic in front of the
Leaning Tower of Pisa, the obelisks of Egypt, and Monet's garden at
Giverny. It's obvious these canines are enjoying themselves -- just look
at the smiles on their faces.

VESPA UP FOR BID ON EBAY
http://tinyurl.com/3lhap

THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER
http://americanhistory.si.edu/ssb/2_home/fs2.html

This site is about the history of the nation's anthem, and about the
historical events that surround it. Here you can learn about the project
that has as it's goal to preserve the actual flag that is the source of
the song's inspiration. You can learn about the person (or persons) who
made the flag, plan a visit to see it, take a test to find out how much
you know about it (i.e., what is fact and what is fiction), and visit an
online educators area, including free resource materials from the
History Channel.
