Some factors contributing to the differences:
1. The road system does not generally follow the shortest distance from
point A to point B
2. There are water barriers: rivers, bays that must be traversed
3. Some zip codes span a large area and the calculations are from the
latitude and longitude of the zip code's geographical center.
