Each day's events posted on the Mardi Gras schedule at
http://www.arnb.org/Mardigras.php may now be visually mapped by pressing
the "Map Events" button shown on the schedule's day heading. This is a
"Preview Release" but I wanted to get it out to help Mardi Gras visitors
figure out where events are located in a visual manner. In the future
this technology will be incorporated into the Northeast Cajun/Zydeco
Schedule, perhaps as a "weekly planner"
The idea is to show the bands on the right side of the page and when you
click on a band name it shows where they are playing on the map by
displaying the venue name. Also rolling over a pointer shows the venue
name. As with all GoogleMaps they are movable and zoomable.
As I mentioned this is a "Preview Release" and a lot more work remains
to be done. I would really like to set up an itinerary with directions,
but that's the next step once I figure it out. Should anyone be familiar
with the GoogleMap API and want to help, that would be very much
appreciated. Actually the next (easy) step is to map your home location,
if it was entered on the preferences page.
Please feel free to send me any problems you encounter, comments and or
suggestions for improving the website.
Thank You
