Thanks for signing up for the ASP4HS announcements mailing
list. We've had a few updates and additions to the Asp4Hs
site since the last mailing went out.
Before I get into the additions, I'd like to mention that
Allaire has agreed to have a person be an ASP issues
point-of-contact. He will monitor the ASP feature requests
and will provide guidance on what can be done. His main role
will be to evaluate the feasibility of specific ASP
enhancements and communicate with other engineers on
possible implementation. You'll be meeting him as he starts
participating more on the forum.
One or his first steps was to ask us the following:
You can be incredibly helpful on two fronts. First of all,
if you can identify a short list of features that would be
the highest priority fixes for H.S 5.0. I realize that
your wishlist identifies many issues, but I am interested
in your personal feeling on perhaps a dozen or so
features. As you know, many of these issues can be
resolved through HomeSite extensions such as VTML. I will
get back to you with my/our feelings on these issues. We
will try and work-in those features that are the easiest
for us to put together and that blend into the
architecture of HomeSite.
On the second front, we do not have a great deal of time
to develop pages outside of HomeSite. Most of our time is
actually spent in the Delphi development environment.
Therefore, we are most interested in identifying the
killer features of InterDev which we could support in
HomeSite. Your guidance on these issues would be most
helpful. We are most interested in those features that
contribute greatly to developer productivity in ASP, but
also other parts of web development." -Dan Noel
I've put together a page to help start this discussion on
Asp4Hs called "HomeSite/ASP Top Priority Enhancement
Requests." Someone is really listening to ASP issues at
allaire now, so please check it out and take this
opportunity to offer your feedback.
Ok, on the add-ons and additions... things have been a bit
slower than the first month, but there are still some
interesting new bits and pieces...
Some new additions and updates (12/13/99 - 2/14/00)

Add-on's Added

- B. Collier Jones posted new versions of his HTML+ color
parsers. Note that he added parsers for JSP, PHP and HTML+
with no server-side support. Collier's ASP parsers were
included in the released version of HomeSite v4.5 as
ASP/vbscript and ASP/jscript. He is busy working on
rewriting and improving ALL the parsers for the HomeSite
maintenance release. Go Collier!
- Added a new script (set) by Stan Zilberleyb that he calls
ASP Function Insight. It creates VTML tags for your ASP
functions to add to your Expression Builder file.
- Added a new tag editor by Octavian Duma to do SSI
Includes. It includes a browse button
- Added a listing to Weyert de Boer's set of syntax parsers.
- Added a listing for Jerry van Beers' set of Custom Tag
Editors and Wizards. These aren't specifically ASP, but
they are useful, but not well known.
- Added listing links to various W3C specs (recommendations)
for those wishing to use them as installable help sets.
- Added a listing to a couple of add-ons for Dreamweaver that
support ASP development (from Emmanuel Meurant).

- Source and Version Control
It seemed there was a general lack of knowledge about
whether HomeSite worked with various source/version
control packages. This page offers a some info and
pointers.
- Added a page detailing a couple of common ASP-related
security issues.
- Added a Disclaimer page to make it clear that I'm not
doing this site for pay from Allaire... or anyone else for
that matter... ;-)
