For the 11th consecutive year, JAZZ STANDARD proudly presents our annual "Tango Meets Jazz" Festival, featuring and directed by Latin Grammy award-winning pianist and composer Pablo Ziegler, "the outstanding representative of the nuevo tango in his generation" (Stereo Review). After collaborating with tango grand-maestro Astor Piazzolla as the pianist in Piazzolla's quintet for over a decade, Ziegler has led his own groups for over 20 years, refining and re-imagining the bounds of the New Tango tradition. Two very special guests will join the Ziegler quartet for this week's festivities: vibraphonist Joe Locke on December 1-2 and the nonpareil violinist Regina Carter, acclaimed recording artist and MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant winner, December 3-4.
