Rodney, those are perfectly reasonable questions, and ones that I think we
can get answers to. But please allow me to redirect your attention to the
last paragraph of my earlier post:
"What do you think at this point? I've asked him for more details, but
I should probably get a sense now of how interested the board might be in
considering such a venture."
Is there a point in my finding out more details, or is a commercial
venture to promote a freethought book going to be outside the interest of
the AU board regardless of the answers? I don't want to waste Mr. Leedom's
time if the rest of the board thinks it's a bad idea in any case.

Ok, then we are talking a business relationship and investment.

What are the financial records on the 1st edition? Production, promotion,
return on investment? What are the projected production, promotion, and ROI
on this 2nd edition release? What is being asked of A.U. and what is our
expected return?

Yes, we are talking $$$ to help fund the production of promotional
trailers
 / videos, etc.
The exact investment amounts, what we might be producing, and the
potential return on investment are things that I've requested more detail
on.

Of course, we'll have him come out and speak about his book at a
mutually convenient time, include write-ups in our newsletter, maybe even
allow him to rent our membership database, that's all pretty much a
no-brainer. The proposal I am asking about goes beyond all of that.

The obvious questions is; What does "partner with its promotion?" We
would
be happy to have one of their speakers come out for free and present. We
would be reasonably in agreement to review an advanced release and do
write
ups for our newsletter and for our public relations release. If we are
talking $$$ then the entire scenarion changes.

Please find below an e-mail thread between me and Tim Leedom, editor
of

"The Book Your Church Doesn't Want You To Read." He is in the midst of
releasing a new 2nd edition of this book, and is asking if AU would
like
 to
 partner with its promotion.

What do you think at this point? I've asked him for more details, but
I

should probably get a sense now of how interested the board might be in
considering such a venture.

Aloha Stuart:

Just a couple things. We are finishing up our two minute tv
trailer/infomercial shooting. Will send a few things to you to bring
you
 up
 to speed.

I had written you in regards to some sort of partnership. The total
cost
 of
our high definition production is just under $15,000 for
trailer/$45,000

 for
infomercial. Our intial airtime budget is an additional $15,000 for
cable.
Our company Intellevision is an award winning production company,
having

recieved a half a dozen Telly's and the EME award on a documentary on
Non-Violence.

We are looking for a partner to share in these costs with first moneys
out.
We believe THE BOOK TWO will far outdistance Book 1.

Also we are trying to local an email list for Freethought organizations
or
their members to do a mass email. Do you have access to such a list?
Again
we will be glad to work out a commensation arrangement.

I look forward to hearing from you. We are expecting a large shipment
of

books very shortly. As soon as they arrive, I will send a copy out to
you.
If you google in Tim Leedom Godsmack you will see our first review.
Also

 our
website under construction is www.thereligiousdeepend.com

Best Regards, Tim

Hi Tim,
I'm interested in talking with you about Atheists United hosting a
book

tour for you across the Southland, maybe even across the state. I'll
admit
that we've never done such a thing before, but I am constantly
seeking

 out
new talent, speakers, topics, etc., and I think you would be quite
popular,
probably sell a lot of autographed books to our members.

Is that something that you might be interested in doing? I don't
mean

to intrude on any publisher copyrights, etc., just wondering if
there's
 a

 mutual opportunity here.
