Can we as a non-profit support a commercial endeavor? What does that do to
our
non-profit status?
Promoting a freethought book is well within our rights as a non-profit
educational organization. In that regard, it's no different from promoting
speakers or publishing a newsletter.
Would we pay taxes on anything we earned?
Possibly. (Such a problem I wouldn't mind having! :-)
I'm afraid it could be more complicated than that. We are not simply
promoting a book, we are investing in a venture. If we decided this was something
we wanted to do, we would have to consult a lawyer.

Consult a lawyer? There goes any profit we might accrue? Check with Bob
