Avialantic Updates - September 2005
==============================

B-17 at Manassas
Martinsburg reminder
MAAM WWII Weekend coming attractions

B-17:

Yes - the population is increasing, and the Liberty Foundation's newly
restored B-17, "Liberty

Belle" will be at the Manassas, Virginia airport this Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday - 9/23-25. See the web site, www.libertyfoundation.org, for
info on rides and other details. Please note the support from XM Radio
and affiliates XM Weather and WX Worx - without such sponsorships there
would be far fewer airshows, museums, and aircraft for us to enjoy.

Speaking of XM Radio...

The special offer via the MAAM web site ends on September 30, so head
for www.maam.org now, click on the XM Radio link, and start enjoying a
great selection of music and other features while giving a boost to the
Mid Atlantic Air Museum.

Martinsburg "Spirit of America" airshow - www.martinsburgairshow.com:

is also this coming weekend but it's not all that far from Manassas so
you can probably see both. I'm going to try. I described this one in the
last Updates and hope you will be able to join me there.

MAAM WWII Weekend 2006:

You're probably the first to know - we've booked the only flying Avro
Lancaster bomber and Messerschmitt BF109 in North America, plus the
Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire fighters.

Of course there will be much more, but that quartet should be exciting
enough for you to book your reservations immediately.

The "Mother of all World War II Airshows" just keeps getting better.
I'll be updating the web site - www.maam.org/maamwwii.html with this and
other information shortly.

That's all I have time for right now - keep an eye on the events
calendar at http://www.avialantic.com/av-main/events.html - I'm *trying*
to do a better job of keeping it up. Please keep in mind though that I
only cover Maryland and adjoining states (well, NJ sort of adjoins MD -
anyway I go there a lot so I include it). For wider coverage, World
Airshow News - www.worldairshownews.com, the Atlantic Flyer -
www.aflyer.com, and ICAS - www.airshows.org/ are excellent sources.

P.S. Watching the Heritage Flight at NAS Oceana, as always, I was taken
by how well Dwayne O'Brien's "We Remember" heightens the emotional
impact of this stirring event. If you've witnessed one of these flights
and wondered where you can get the music, see "Song Pilot" at
Avialantic.com.
