Avialantic Updates - February 2006
==============================

MAAM WWII Weekend Special
-------------------------

Thanks to Bill Rambow, leader of the MAAM flight simulator team, the
MAAM web site has undergone a spectacular rebirth, featuring super
graphics, sound, video, detailed virtual tours of museum aircraft, and
lots of news and useful information. The WW II Weekend section is as
close as you can get to experiencing this one-of-a-kind show without
actually being there. If you don't feel like reading any more, just zoom
over to www.maam.org and enjoy the whole visual experience.

Don't have your big video display handy? OK - here's the short version:

Question:

How could the Mid Atlantic Air Museum possibly improve on last year's
show, or the one before that, or the one before that...etc.? Every year
the hard-working folks, and there are a bunch of them, start pondering
the answer even before they start tearing down the tents from the show
just ending, and every year they come up with an even better answer.

How about, for 2006, an aircraft line-up featuring the only airworthy
Avro Lancaster and Bf-109 in North America, joined by a Hurricane and
Spitfire to commemorate the Battle of Britain? How about over twenty
noted WWII veteran and civilian guest speakers, plus - just announced -
the History Channel's "Mail Call" host, Marine D.I., and movie star, R.
Lee Ermey, who will lead the convoy to "liberate" Reading on Friday and
be present and participating all three days, complete with jeep, tent,
and production crew and plans to feature WWII Weekend on future "Mail
Call" shows. And yes, he will be signing autographs.

You'll see an exciting change in the P-61 Black Widow restoration
project, and of course there will all your favorite regulars, including
"Yankee Lady" and your chance to get a real B-17 ride.

If you don't have a place to stay, better get a reservation soon - it
will be a full house! See the web site for accomodations and other
visitor tips. Don't forget to visit the sponsor's page - without them it
wouldn't happen!

See you in June.

Fred Pierce

P.S. See the Avialantic Events
-http://www.avialantic.com/php/avia_events.php - calender for other
mid-atlantic area shows. More about them later.
