newsap9647_imgThe faith of Simbari believers in Papua New Guinea is being
strengthened as they rely on God's power.
Missionary Lori Morley stood amazed when she heard of a Simbari woman
seeking prayer for her dying baby.
The woman first took her baby to a religious group who falsely believed they
could gain God's approval by following the law. She asked for them to pray
for her child, but they refused her. They told her to take the baby to those
in the village who believe in Jesus.
"Perhaps they were afraid that if they prayed and nothing happened, it would
make them look bad," Lori wrote. "Or perhaps they were just acting on the
stories they had heard about other people near death whom the believers had
prayed for and God had chosen to heal."
The woman took the baby to the group of believers and asked them to pray.
The baby was already unresponsive and the believers thought the baby was
already dead due to foam at the mouth and loss of appetite. The baby also
appeared to not be breathing.
"The believers said to the woman, 'Yes, we can pray for your baby, but we
don't have any power in ourselves. Only God has the power to heal, and life
and death are in His hands,' Then they prayed to God for healing and He
honored their prayer," Lori wrote.
The baby started breathing again and began nursing.
"No one was more excited at this display of God's power than the believers
themselves. Their faith was strengthened, as was mine, when I was told the
story."
Please pray that the faith of these believers will be a testimony to the
Simbaris and that this woman will be open to hearing God's Word.
