Quotes
“A mother’s love!---how sweet the name!
The holiest, purest, tenderest flame
That kindles from abobe;
Within a heart of earthly mould
As much of heaven as heart can hold
Nor through eternity grows cold---
That is a mother’s love.
---Montgomery

Who ran to help me when I fell,
And would some pretty story tell,
Or kiss the place to make it well?
My mother.
---Ann Taylor
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
A mother is not a person to lean on,
But a person to make leaning unnecessary.
---Dorothy Canfield Fisher

Notes from Dietta…
Hello ladies, I hope this issue finds you well. In honor of Mother’s
Day I would like to dedicate this month’s issue to my mom ;-). I am
very thankful for all that she has done for me, for the sacrifices she
has made and the struggles she has endured. I am especially thankful
for a gem of advice that my mother wrote to me several years ago in a
letter.
I had recently moved back to the town where I basically grew up after
being a “prodigal” for about 3 years. My life had literally hit bottom
and there was nowhere else to fall. In all honesty, I believe God used
my mother to put my life back on track and to give me hope for the
future. Her words were simple yet profound. She wrote, “…its time for
the sun to shine your life.” I held onto those words for dear life and
I believed they were true with all of my heart.
My Mother and I don’t talk on the telephone every week, nor do we write
regularly, but we do keep in touch. And I know in my heart that my Mom
loves me and is there for me whenever I need her. She has shown me
tough love when I’ve been stubborn. She has given me space and time to
be a wife and a mother to my children. She has always kept in touch
with me even in the times when I made it very difficult.
I am the person I am today because of my Mother.
As I dedicate this newsletter to my Mother, I also would like to give
honor to her for her service to our Country. Yep, my Mommy is retired
from the Military! How cool is that?
I also would like to give honor to my husband’s Mother who is no longer
with us. Though I only knew her a short while she was and continues to
be a blessing to my life. Dietta

Time for You
Feeling tired, stressed and achy all over? Try this: Run a bath as
hot as you feel comfortable with and pour 2 cups of Epsom Salts in. For
an added treat add a few drops of Eucalyptus Oil (you can get this at a
health food store). Soak for 10-20 minutes.
After your bath you will feel relaxed and you will be able to have a
nice restful sleep. One evening after taking one of these soothing
baths my husband caught me almost dozing in the recliner.

Mother's Day Gift Basket Ideas
by Rachel Paxton - rac-@creativehomemaking.com

Mother's Day baskets are a great way to show off your creative
talents while also showing your mom, mother-in-law, grandma, or
another special mom how much you care.

I've put together some theme ideas to get you started. I've
included several easy recipes, and also some links to give you
some more ideas and to help you put it all together.

Most of these ideas you can make yourself from the following
recipes. I've never made biscotti before, but there's a great
hazelnut biscotti recipe included that I think I'm going to try
when I make my Mother's Day baskets this year. Have fun! Your
mom will be so impressed.
