Hello and welcome to the FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY ISSUE of Balance
Boosters.   I’m amazed at how quickly the year has gone by.
I want to say thank you to so many of you who have been here since the
beginning. I hope that you have been able to glean some goodness from
each issue. I look forward to many more months sharing my heart with
you all.
I have had some time to work on the website so please be sure to visit
and see what’s new. I have added some new links in the Link Directory
of some cool sites I have run across. And I have posted some new
articles.

Purging

Being balanced is a process of removing excess from our lives and adding
or preserving the essentials. Purging is a tool that we can use
periodically to restore a sense of balance to our overcrowded lives.
Here are a few tips to help you purge your life and increase the
balance.
Purge your mind. Once while watching a female standup comedian I had
to laugh at the truth in her story about the busyness of a woman’s mind.
Women are always thinking about something. When my husband is sound
asleep I sometimes find myself staring at the ceiling trying to go to
sleep, but can’t because I’ve got too many things running through my
mind. One trick I’ve learned to use to empty my mind is to write down
my thoughts in a journal.
Purge your body. Fasting is one of the best ways I have found to
cleanse my body, mind and spirit. I find that when my life is burdened
down with a lot of things that don’t belong fasting is a good way to
center myself and restore clarity. It is helpful also to fast before
starting a new diet program. Juice fasting, and cleansing soups and
teas are great ways to feel better and get your mind ready for a new
program. (If you want to know about a good tea that can help to cleanse

Purge your heart. Are you harboring feelings of bitterness and anger
towards someone? If so, releasing these feelings will help to restore
balance to your life. You have probably heard that forgiveness is more
for you than the other person, this is definitely true, you can forgive
even if the person or people don’t deserve it and bring peace to your
own heart.
Purge your relationships. Now I say this with caution…let go of
relationships that are not healthy. I don’t want to be responsible for
breaking anybody up, but I do want to encourage you to look at your
relationships more closely and see if there are any people in your life
that are causing you more harm than good. Healthy relationships bless
each person involved. There is not one person who is doing all the
giving or all the receiving. There is a balance there. Another test is
to ask yourself if you are growing in the relationship. If you are not
moving forward, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually then this may be
a clue that you are not in a healthy relationship. We could spend an
entire book on this but we won’t :-)
Purge your environment. Get rid of items in your home or personal
space that do not fit who you are or do not promote good health.
Eliminate toxic chemicals from your home. Open up the windows instead of
staying cooped up with the air conditioner all the time. It has been
noted that outside air is often times healthier than indoor air because
of the harmful chemicals found in our homes. I used to gripe (and
sometimes still do) to my husband about not wanting to run the air
conditioner. Now I understand that it is healthier to let fresh air
flow through our homes.
Straighten up drawers and closets. Restore order to chaos. Bring peace
back to your surroundings.
