following complaints was sent to BBC.
On the Press Review of the "Today" programme we were shocked to hear an
"explanation" by the commentator of a cartoon depicting Ariel Sharon as a
bulldozer "because of his record of bulldozing Palestinian SETTLEMENTS". There is a
fundamental difference between colonial-style settlements introduced by
Israeli occupiers and the original Palestinian towns and villages inhabited
continuously for thousands of years. This is not just an academic point, or an
excusable "slip of the tongue". Most listeners take BBC producers' omments as
historical truth and would not question them.
Please correct this serious error.
