Does anyone have a favorite type of wire to use for their
battery-to-lighthead wiring? Something better than speaker wire from the
hardware store?

I'm looking for something black, flexible, strong, clean-looking, and
appropriate for 1 amp of current.

I use 16 or 18 guage 2-conductor clear or amber stranded copper lamp
cord. I've been using it for 4 years on my winter bike in Ontario
salted roads on a front dynamo and it has been very robust. It is also
very cheap and available at just about any hardware store. I'm now
using it by default for all the bikes I wire up. I don't depend on the
bike frame for ground or one conductor.

As for connectors, sorry, I don't have a solution. I can't stand the
RCA type "phono" jacks/plugs and the other centre-pin ones frequently
used on wall-warts and laptops. I'm a fan of XLR connectors, but they
are overkill for this application.
