Dear friends of Bow Triplets,
We trust you are all well and are all moving into the final phase of
the old year with confidence.
Here is the last newsletter of 2001, happy reading.

1. NEW RELEASES! A pre-publication of new studio tracks - FREE!!
The November session at HARDSTUDIOS is over and we got 16
minutes of our own compositions recorded, mixed and mastered for
Bow Triplets' new CD "One Spot on Earth" with four tracks (six
songs and tunes in total).
The recording of the next four tracks will commence sometime in the
first half of 2002 and the final sessions in autumn 2002.
The recorded tracks are:
1. One Spot on Earth (by Stef)
2. Open Sky (by Heidi) / Meghan's Reel (by Heidi) / Canal Jig (by Stef)
3. Meghan and Robin (music by Heidi, lyrics by Stef)
4. Miramis (by Stef)
Musicians for this recording session were:
Heidi Sigfalk, vocals/violin/viola
Stef Sigfalk, vocals/guitars/banjo
Andreas Aeppli, percussion/bells/bodhran
Inga-Lisa Jansen, harp

"Miramis:
Starts off with mood viola and intricate bells
then blends in the strings of cello, bass and guitar.
Give this a few listens as there is no way a first listen
can provide the depth and beauty this track really beholds.
There's a lot going on here, a very clever musical experience."
"One Spot On Earth:
The title track, a very gentle song, and our introduction to
Bow Triplet's beautiful harp of Inga-Lisa. Performed in
waltz time and very easy to listen to. I cannot imagine
anyone disliking this track. Easy to follow lyrics that really
provoke the imagination and memories I think a lot of folks
will be recording covers of this. Its a potential standard.
I can even imagine Tony Bennet taking this song and
adapting to his style."
"Open Sky/Meghan's Reel/Canal Jig:
Did you like "The Butterfly" or even heard it.
Heidi's fiddle opening, gave me the same exciting shivers
as that wonderful tune, some of the purest fiddle
music I have heard from her, and then when Inga-Lisa's
harp floats in .. aaaaahhhhhhh
Next, Meghan's Reel sounds more like a
feet kicking morris dance. It will certainly get you dancing
and clapping with its infectious beat that gets faster
and faster :-)
Finally, Stef's Canal Jig rolls along with Inga-Lisa plucking that
harp with all give from it."

I love the string bass opening open this
which sets the mood for this very Celtic style
song that is so beautifully sung by Heidi.
Its the best I have heard her sing yet.
This type of song really suits Heidi so well
and I suspect this will be their biggest MP3.com hit to date
- followed closely by One Spot On Earth
The musical arrangement on this is so tight
yet highly textured with lots of surprises.
The fiddle and harp duet moments are really
unique, yet still maintaining the feel that makes
this one of the best celtic style tracks you may ever hear.

2. Benny Andersson has said ok to the recording of "Gladan".
We have just received notice from Benny Andersson (ex-ABBA)
that he gladly gives us permission to record one of his tunes again
on the next CD. (The last one was "Klinga Mina Klockor").
The tune we want to record has a very traditional Swedish flavour
and we have performed it on stage a number of times.
The title is "Gladan" and we're looking forward to it.

4. "Nadine" a recently published book with a song written by Stef
Stef was approached by a New Yorker Broadway producer and author
about 18 months ago, Ms Paulina Kent Dennis. She was in the
process of writing a trilogy with the name "The Musicians" and asked
Stef if he would consider writing a song to be used for the key person
"Nadine" of the first book. Stef read the manuscript and was fascinated
by its warmth and exciting story.
He wrote a song with the title "Where Are My Sons" and it became
an important part of this first book.
"Nadine" The Story of a famous American Orchestra Conductor with
Celtic roots by Paulina K. Dennis has just been published and is
available i.e with http://www.amazon.com
ISBN number: 0-595-19800-7.
It is an amazing and wonderful story and Stef is proud to be a part of
it through his song.
"Where Are My Sons" has, other than in the book, never been
performed on stage in real life but we will start singing it
in the new year and it will most likely be included in the new CD
"One Spot on Earth".

5. Giving concerts at schools, a new and appreciative audience.
For a month now, Bow Triplets have travelled to Zuerich every
Wednesday to perform a Programme called "Ireland's Rainbow Music"
to all 5th and 6th grade students of Zuerich City.
The programme is designed to introduce the manifold facettes of
Ireland's music to the young students, from old ballads and pub songs
to modern compositions, old Carolan tunes, jigs, reels and polkas from
the 18th/19th - and 20th century. The music that evolved from the Irish
migrating to the USA is also included.
The children are animated to sing along, clapping and tapping the
different rhythms and even playing along with the band with simple
concertina chords and bodhran.
This has been a very special experience so far, the children are
fantastic listeners and very eager to ask questions about the
music and the different instruments we are using.
It is a wonderful thing for schools to make this kind of cultural event
possible for the younger generations.

6. Bow Triplets last public concerts, how to not miss out on the next.
Our November concerts went very well and we had a great time
playing to wonderful people, meeting old and new friends.
As we mentioned in our last newsletter, the castle gig in Laufen with
the choire was booked out before it was really advertised and as it
turned out, the annual brewery gig in Frauenfeld a week later had no
more tickets even for some very dear friends. We had comments from
some disappointed people that were turned back and we must say
that even though we think ourselves very fortunate to play in a
full house, it is frustrating to hear that our friends can't get in.
The people that know us are naturally our best audience, asking for
songs they know we play and singing along.
This is why we announce the public concerts with our
newsletters, well in advance of when they are actually advertised.
In addition we would be happy to include you on the mailing list
for more detailed flyers, which are generally mailed to the fans
around the region where we are actually playing about four weeks
ahead of the gig.
Just email us with a request to be added to the snail mail list
if you want this.
Our next newsletter will be after the New Year celebrations and we
will inform you about the next concert then.

8. The Bards have made it to one million listeners!!!
They did it!
One million plays on MP3.com by last Thursday evening. It took
14 months and only 30 artists on MP3.com have achieved this.
The Bards achieved a million plays in the shortest time, all other 29
are Mp3.com veterans. The Bards are also the youngest artists to
achieve this"milestone" according to John Willmott of Celtic Ways.

2. Benny Andersson erlaubt uns seine "Gladan" aufzunehmen.
Soeben haben wir von Benny Andersson (ex-ABBA) Bescheid
bekommen, dass er uns gerne eines seiner Lieder zum zweiten Mal
aufnehmen laesst fuer die naechste CD.
(Das letzte war "Klinga Mina Klockor").
Das Lied, welches wir aufnehmen wollen klingt sehr "schwedisch" und
wir haben es schon einige Male auf der Buehne gespielt.

4. "Nadine" ein neu erschienenes Buch mit einem Song von Stefan
Eine Broadway Produzentin und Schriftstellerin aus New York hatte
vor ca. 18 Monate mit Stefan Kontakt aufgenommen und gefragt
ob er ein Lied fuer Ihr neues Buch schreiben wuerde.
Sie heisst Paulina Kent Dennis und war dabei eine Trilogie namens
"The Musicians" zu schreiben.
Das Lied war fuer das erste Buch "Nadine" gedacht und nachdem
Stef das Manuskript begeistert gelesen hatte, schrieb er das Lied
"Where Are My Sons" fuer Nadine, die Hauptperson des Buches.
Das Lied wurde ein wichtiger Bestandteil vom ersten Buch.
"Nadine", die Geschichte einer beruehmten, amerikanischen
Orchesterdirigentin, die keltische Wurzeln hat und die zuerst eine
gefeierte Folksaengerin war (von Paulina K. Dennis) wurde gerade
publiziert und ist u.a. bei http://www.amazon.com erhaeltlich.
ISBN Nummer: 0-595-19800-7.
Dies ist eine wunderbare und spannende Geschichte und Stef ist
stolz darauf, mit seiner Ballade etwas dazu beigetragen zu haben.

aufgefuehrt aber wir werden es im neuen Jahr singen und es wird
wahrscheinlich fuer die neue CD ebenfalls aufgenommen werden.

5. Schulhauskonzerte, ein neues und dankbares Publikum.
Seit einem Monat reist Bow Triplets jeden Mittwoch nach Zuerich, um
ein Programm zu spielen, das sie "Die Regenbogenmusik Irlands"
nennen.
Ihr Publikum sind die 5. und 6. Klaessler dieser Stadt.
Das Programm ist konzipiert, um die viele Fazetten der irischen Musik
den jungen Zuhoererinnen und Zuhoerern naeher zu bringen, von alte
Balladen -ueber pubsongs, alte Carolan Stuecke, jigs, reels und
polkas, bis hin zu modernen Kompositionen.
Die Musik der irischen Einwanderer in die USA wird auch erlaeutert.
Die Kinder werden zum mitsingen und mitklatschen der
verschiedenen Rhythmen animiert und koennen z.T. auch mit der
Band mitspielen mit einfachen Concertina-Akkorden und Bodhran.
Dies war bis jetzt ein besonderes Erlebnis fuer uns, sind die Kinder
doch sehr interessierte Zuhoerer und stellen viele gute Fragen.
Es ist eine tolle Sache von den Schulen, Kultur auf diese
direkte Art, der juengeren Generation anzubieten.

6. Bow Triplets letzte Konzerte, wie die naechsten nicht verpassen.
Unsere November-Konzerte sind sehr gut gegangen und wir hatten
viel Spass beim Spielen von einem super Publikum.
Auch war es wie immer schoen, alte und neue Freunde zu treffen.
Wie wir schon in unserem letzten Rundbrief sagten, war das Konzert
im Schloss Laufen ausverkauft bevor die Werbung losging und wie
es sich herausstellte, gab es fuer das jaehrliche Brauhaus Konzert
in Frauenfeld eine Woche vorher auch keine Karten mehr, nicht
einmal fuer einige sehr gute Bekannte.
Wir hoerten von einige enttaeuschten Freunden, dass sie nicht herein
konnten und das tut uns sehr leid.
Wir schaetzen uns gluecklich, dass wir in vollen Haeusern spielen
duerfen und trotzdem ist es frustrierend zu erfahren, dass Freunde
nicht herein koennen.
Darum machen wir auch die oeffentlichen Konzerte mit unseren
Rundbriefen publik, meist bevor die Werbung los geht.
Wer zusaetzlich flyers bekommen moechte, kann es uns per
mail mitteilen. Die flyers werden meistens ca 4 Wochen vor den
Konzerten mit B Post verschickt.
Mit dem naechsten Rundbrief nach Sylvester, werden wir das
naechste Konzert bekannt geben.
