Dear friends of Bow Triplets,
Here is newsletter no 11 of June 2002, happy reading.
Summer has finally arrived in Switzerland, we have already been seen
swimming in rivers and lakes between concerts.
We hope you're all keeping well and that you've got a glorious summer
ahead of you. For those of you in the southern hemisphere, we hope
you're in for a cracker winter J

1. A different concert venue in Lohn, SH, Switzerland
Friday the 7th of June.
This was the first time ever, that Bow Triplets played in a church.
Looking into the filled church from the back, we felt a bit peculiar and
when we tried to sneak through to the stage up front we were spotted
and a hearty applause welcomed us. "Too late to retreat", we thought
and marched on through the aisle to start what was to be a fantastic
concert for us.
The audience was not only a wonderfully listening one but they
participated in the songs, clapped their hands and stomped their feet to
the rhythms and there were even some ladies (and good old Charles
Smith from Scotland) dancing jigs and reels up and down the aisle.

Thanks all for being there and for giving us such a wonderful time and
so
heartily showing us that you were enjoying yourselves.
Thanks also to the great vicar Hans Duerr for asking us to come and
above all for putting in all the work and interest in supporting
folkmusic
by organizing regular concerts in his church with artists from all over
the
world.
Next concert is 08. September with La Volta, a fine guitar ensemble.
Then 13. November Tommy Sands the famous singer/songwriter from
Ireland

2. Five further tracks for the new album "One Spot on Earth".
Thanks to all newcomers in the pre order bin for the hand signed
edition
of our next CD “One Spot on Earth”. Please be patient as it will be
December before the album is released. The remaining eight tracks will
be recorded in November.
The last studio session was June 4th and June 6th, a further five tracks
have now been recorded and mixed on top of the four we did last
November.
1. Big John McNeal by Peter Milne (bluegrass)
Instrumental lineup: fiddles, guitars, percussion, acoustic bass.
The original tune by this name was written in Aberdeen, Scotland by
Peter Milne. Milne died in an Aberdeen mental institution in 1908
(possibly the first recorded case of Fiddle Fever).
Heidi arranged this one after Jay Ungar and "The Best of Fiddle Fever"
This one seems to be an immediate hit on mp3.com
2. The Old Girl by Stef (folk)
Instrumental line up: vocals, guitar,fiddle, percussion, acoustic bass
Stef grew up in Sweden and this song came about in summer 2001
as he was visiting the old Fishermen's village "Haellevik". Although
Haellevik
is on the east coast, the song tells about the west coast (just a small
detail) but the west coast is significant to Stef's childhood. The old
girl
in the song also has something to do with reality.
3. Sam's Big Day by Andreas (mood music)
Instrumental line up: viola, guitars, concertina, percussion, acoustic
bass.
If you enjoyed "Miramis" you'll certainly enjoy this waltz
4. The Lord of The Dance by Sydney Carter, The Dance of The Lord by
Heidi (Celtic)
Instrumental line up: vocals, fiddles, 12 stringed open tuned guitar,
bells,
6 string guitar, banjo, percussion, acoustic bass. The Lord of The Dance
was Written by the Englishman Sydney Carter in 1963. He lives in
London. You know the Lord of the Dance but you've never, ever heard it
like this!
5. Cock of The North (Celtic)
Instrumental line up: choire and lead vocals, mouth harp, guitar,
mandolin,
percussion, acoustic bass.
This is a commonly played traditional pipe band tune, only we're singing
it.
(Note how we smuggled in "The Nightinggale" by Phil Coulter with the
mandolin accompanying heidi's voice part.)

3. mp3.com, deleting old files certainly did the trick to the CDs
All old tracks have been replaced with new 192 kbps tracks for the CDs
on our mp3 page.
Sure, it meant that we fell out of all charts and were taken off the
radio
stations that were playing our old 128 kbps tracks but the sound quality
of
all our mp3 CDs is now top of the tops. No different from the normal
studio
audio CDs. Crisp as Kellogs Cornflakes in the morning.
We'll soon be back in the charts. The new tracks are helping us.

5. Ireland, Sweden and England
We're flying into Galway on 22.June to breathe some fresh Irish air
again. On our way down to Baltimore
we hope to meet with some musical friends in Clare and of course Stef is
looking forward to singing with his mate Ronnie Carthy the folksinger
from Fastnet in Baltimore. Watch out Ronnie… keep that guitar tuned.

Hier ist der Juni Rundbrief (Nr. 11). Viel Spass beim Lesen.
Endlich Sommer!! Zwischen Konzerten hat man uns schon mehrmals
beim Schwimmen in der Thur oder in der Badi getroffen.
Wir hoffen, dass es euch allen sehr gut geht. Ihr freut euch bestimmt
auch auf die naechsten, warmen Monate so wie wir auch

1. Ein ungewöhnlicher Konzertsaal in Lohn, SH, Schweiz
Freitag 07. Juni. Rueckblick.
Das allererste mal, dass Bow Triplets in einer Kirche spielte.
Als wir von hinten in die volle Kirche blickten, fuehlten wir uns etwas
sonderlich und als wir probierten, nach vorne zur Buehne zu gelangen
wurden wir entdeckt und durch einen herzliche Applaus wilkommen
geheissen. "Zu spaet fuer einen Rueckzug" dachten wir und marschierten
durch den Mittelgang, um ein Konzert anzufangen, das fuer uns sehr
schoen werden wuerde.
Das Publikum war nicht nur ein genau zuhoerendes, sondern
machte auch mit bei den Liedern und klatschte und tappte mit zu den
Rhythmen.
Einige Damen (und der gute alte Charles Smith aus
Schottland) tanzten sogar jigs und reels im Mittelgang.

Danke an alle, die dort waren und dazu beigetragen haben, dass es ein
so schoener Abend wurde und dass ihr so offenherzlich gezeigt habt, dass
ihr euch gut amuesiert habt.
Vielen Dank auch an Pfarrer Hans Duerr fuer die Einladung zum Spielen
und vor allem fuer seine Unterstuetzung der Musik durch das
regelmaessige Organisieren von Konzerten mit Kuenstlern aus der ganzen
Welt.

08. September, LA VOLTA, eine tolle Gitarrenensemble
13. November, Tommy Sands, der bekannte Liedermacher aus Irland.

2. Fuenf weitere Stuecke fuer die neue CD "One Spot on Earth"
Danke an alle Neuen in der Vorbestellkiste fuer die handsignierte
Auflage von "One Spot on Earth". Wir bitten um Geduld, denn die
CD wird erst in Dezember erhaeltlich sein.
Die letzten Studiotage waren am 4. und 6. Juni, weitere fuenf Stuecke
wurden aufgenommen und gemischt zusaetzlich zu den vieren, die im
letzten November fertig wurden.
1. Big John McNeal (von Peter Milne)
Geigen, Gitarren, Perkussion, Kontrabass.
Ein traditionelles Fiddlestueck, das wir in eine Bluegrassnummer
umgewandelt haben.
Es wurde in Aberdeen (Schottland) geschrieben, von Peter Milne
der in 1908 gestorben ist.
Heidi arrangierte dieses Stueck nach Jay Ungar und "The Best of
Fiddle Fever".
Dieses Stueck scheint ein spontaner mp3 hit zu werden
(Platz 40 von 10'000 in nur vier Tagen)
2. The Old Girl (von Stef )
Gesang, Gitarre, Geige, Perkussion, Kontrabass
Ein Song ueber die Witwe eines Fischers, den Stef in 2001 in Schweden
geschrieben hat. Die Geschichte spinnt sich um ein uns gut bekanntes,
schwedisches Fischerdorf. Die alte Witwe ist auch aus dem Leben geholt.
3. Sam's Big Day (von Andreas)
Viola, Gitarre, Concertina, Perkussion, Kontrabass
Wenn euch "Miramis" gefallen hat, dann habt Ihr bestimmt Freude an
diesem Walzer von Andreas.
4. The Lord of The Dance and The Dance of The Lord (von Heidi)
Gesang, Geigen, 12-Saitige-offen gestimmte Gitarre, 6-Saitige Gitarre
Glocken, Banjo, Perkussion, Kontrabass.
The Lord of The Dance wurde vom Englaender Sydney Carter in 1963
geschrieben. Er lebt heute in London.
Viele von Euch kennen The Lord of The Dance, aber so habt Ihr es
bestimmt noch nie gehoert.
Das zweite Stueck ist von Heidi, ein wuerdiges Stuck fuer den Tanz
der Taenze.
5. Cock of The North (Celtic)
Chor – und Sologesang, Mundharmonika, Gitarre, Mandoline, Perkussion,
Kontrabass.
Eigentlich ein traditionelles Dudelsackstueck, wir singen es aber.
(Passt auf, wie die Mandoline Phil Coulter's "The Nightinggale"
reinschleicht bei Heidi's Solopart).
